I am trying to find a way, if possible, to get the Memopad icon onto desktop of my Storm. Along the same lines, can those icons be changed? Thanks.

Tap the screen to bring all icons up (or place your Storm into landcsape mode) and highlight an icon. Press the BlackBerry button, select move and make your adjustments.

Moved to desktop with no issue here. Follow the post by mistamista and should work fine.

Thanks ... but how do I get Memopad if it is not showing up in my applications?

You should look in your application list and see if you didn't delete it by accident and if you did try re installing it through the DM not sure if you can
