So i upgraded to this crappy bbm 5.0, i didn't like it, so i tried to downgrade, all contacts lost, i had backed up on the 2nd of october and uploaded that & only 2 freaking contacts showed up! Damn it!

I LOST EVERYTHING, my backup file that i restored to was from my OLD Blackberry..since JULY i'm F'd i lost ALL MY CONTACTS i've added since july MY EMAILS, MY SMS, MY PHONE BOOK CONTACTS, EVERYTHING,noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooo

Try using this OTA link to downgrade and then try restoring again.

Hooooly crap, i just checked my bb my emails and sms are all gone, everything for the past 2 months all gone, my contacts in the phone book from 2 months ago, oh my GOOOOOOOOOOD! what do i do

First thing is to do the downgrade. I'm not sure how much text
and email you got since the 2nd but whatever was there should
restore. Whatever wasn't is lost forever. Sorry to be the bearer
of somewhat news.

oh my goodness...on the 2nd i plugged in my OLD 8830 that i replaced in JULY to kinda update some stuff on it, and this IS THE INFO THAT GOT SAVED, i guess it OVERWROTE the file, so now when i did this i loaded the ollllllllllllld blackberry info, IS EVERYTHING GONE??

if so i have one option, i switched my tours last week, turned in my old one because of trackball issues & got this one, i wonder if there is anyway they didn't wipe that old one and it can still be tracked down somehow ... i'm screwed

Tracking it down may be a stretch and it may already been
refurbed. It's worth a shot to ask but I think it is unlikely this
will pan out.

Man I hate being a Debbie Downer but yeah, without a recent
backup of your current device, it looks like you lost it all.

i knew that downloading that new BBM was gonna end up causing some kind of problem not that its the BBM's fault, but i knew i would somehow end up screwing something up...this sucks...big time!

Tarek, one more thing. On your PC do a search for
"Loader Backup". The files will all have a date as part
of the file name and an .ipd extension.

If you have upgraded your device OS recently choose the one with
the most recent date and try restoring from that.

Probably won't get you everything back but you won't be
completely dead in the water.

i only backed it up once, the day i switched tours, or maybe i never even did back it up then 2 days later i plugged in my old BB for some freaking reason and i think i replaced the file for the tour which i might have had backed up with what was on the 8830 which i have not used since july..finito, i'm screwed big time

You haven't upgraded the OS at all? When you do it makes what's
called a Loader Backup unless you specifically tell DM not to.

Once your OS installs DM uses that to restore your info.

no i didn't update the OS i dont think, i tried but it always stayed at 4.7 just my desktop changed to 5.0 i looked in my computer for any file by the name loader and the only one is the one from october 2nd which was for my ollllllld 8830

The irony is, sure enough i did downgrade to the older version of BBM which i wanted..lol..i'm really screwed there were very important text messages i needed...the only only only solution is to track down the Tour i traded in last week at sprint with the bad trackball..slim but i will try

by the way why is my Desktop manager 5.0 & my os still 4.7 i dont understand this

They are separate downloads and installs. They do not need to
match. On my computer at work I am still running DM 4.2 with
OS 4.6. Works without issue.

Also you need to read some of the tutorials in the help area it sounds like. These should all help keep you a bit safer next time. BBM 5.0 is legit, but if you don't understand all of what your doing with this stuff sometimes it can be dangerous!
