Leaked OS 7.1.0.205 for BlackBerry Bold 9900 Findings and Fixes (
- I've been using 205 for a couple of weeks now and the only issue I have found is the middle trackpad settings are unusual. While I am scrolling up or down it will randomly start to drill down as if I have pressed in on the trackpad. This was not happening until I upgraded to 7.1. It gets annoying at times as it selectsa things I didn't mean too.
Anyone else find this to be an issue.
Thank you!01-28-12 08:15 PMLike 0 -
- Hi Everyone
I've got my BB 9900 from 3 UK on contract which I did for my wife 12 days ago she prefer the 9700 cos is small so the 9900 is mine, same day I got the phone just went strait to 7.1.0.190 but battery life is horrible after 3 days went back to latest official and now using the 7.1.0.205, battery still horrible but latest OS is better or usually is.
About the battery Device Analyser show that file indexing got 5% of CPU, browser 8% CPU, Mobile network usage 68% anyway my battery sucks.
Google maps is amazing how quick got my location.
The phone working on 3G is really quick too, much better than 9700 or 8900
I'm on Orange rubbish network also works on T-mobile, loose 2G option on this OS so I did select to use only 3G, since then the phone been working much better cos 2G/3G happen a lot of dropped phone calls and never fix in any off then.
I would like to know your guys opinion on GOLD 2430MAH J-M1 HIGH CAPACITY BATTERY + DECODER FOR BLACKBERRY BOLD 9900 9930 | eBay
Almost forgot, I got into engineering content and disable all logs to see if something will change on the battery life, later I can tell.
Thanks.01-29-12 08:23 AMLike 0 -
- With regard to battery life, my experience with .205 is interesting. For the first couple of days after upgrading to .205 (from .190), I was experiencing EXTREMELY large drain rates (27% per hour). After 2 days and many reboots, it went back to what I have come to expect from my 9900 - in the morning it starts at about .3%/hr, and over the course of the day it goes up (but never to ridiculous levels).
However, the drain rate goes up to 8-10% when using hotspot (fyi, THANK YOU t-mobile for your unadvertized mobile hotspot bundle at no extra charge!!!!). The most interesting aspect of turning on the hotspot is that after I turn it off, the drain rate remains higher than normal.
I have no idea if that is an accurate reading or an artifact of MeterBerry using some sort of moving average calculation for reporting battery drain rather than an "instantaneous" reading. I suspect is an artifact of a moving average calc but I can't confirm that.
All in all, now that I have mobile hotspot provisioned (AT NO EXTRA COST!!!! YES!!!!!), the only thing I wish for would be an extended battery that is 100% compatible and does require a replacement battery "door."01-29-12 10:01 AMLike 0 - 01-29-12 11:05 AMLike 0
- I installed .205 a week ago and I noticed that my mobile network strength is more stable than version 7.0. However, the wireless signal seems a little bit weaker.
While I am on it, my experience with .205 is pretty good (versus OS 7.0)
1. The browser loads faster (less sluggish)
2. The OS is less sluggish
3. GPS is better and faster (both on Google Map and BB Map)
4. As I mentioned above, mobile network signal is stronger. - I am on Rogers Wireless.
5. Reboots faster (probably a full minute faster)
However, the battery life sucks.

- Guys! sharing my experience with people experiencing bad battery life
I am on Vodafone India, my daily average usage is 100+ BBM messages, 50+ SMS, 60-70 minutes of average talk time, few minutes of browsing. Whatsapp and Google Maps are the only 3rd Party software installed on my phone. I have re-installed this OS twice on my phone.
After 3 days of the second install my battery discharge rate has been stabilized at around 3.2% per hour and am getting approx. 18 hrs of battery life daily.
I have dimmed my phone's brightness to 50 and wifi is always turned off, you need to do a battery pull every 6-7 hrs to optimize your os.
but I have had an issue with battery life when roaming, the discharge rate was in excess of 7% per hr with a lot lesser usage.01-29-12 11:52 PMLike 0 - Are you guys getting awesome battery life on 3G or 2G? I'm getting 8-10hrs on 3G and 24+hrs on Edge.01-30-12 04:05 AMLike 0
