OS UPGRADE GUIDE
(Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from PC.
Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, browser is irrelevant.)
*If 100% certain you've previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again.
Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
Go through any 3rd party apps with option to save settings to media card. Conduct Backup to media card within each of these apps. (Examples: Bellshare apps like BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps like Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; etc).
Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
(Optional) Use desktop app like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
On PC, delete Vendor file located here:
�64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
�32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
(Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss v2.2 or BBH Tool (formerly Shrink-A-OS).
In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click Loader to load OS to BB. Follow onscreen instructions.
After loading OS, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is loaded.

TROUBLESHOOTING
How to Fix OS not Appearing as Available
There are 2 common reasons:

A. HIDDEN VENDOR FILE
Consider trying this new desktop app to remove Vendor from several common locations:
Vendor XML Remover V1.0

If manually deleting Vendor, always hold down SHIFT and press DELETE to permanently delete.
Check here first:
�64-bit: Computer\C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
�32-bit: Computer\C:\Documents and Settings\{USER NAME}\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
If Loader still doesn't make new OS available, search PC for "Vendor".

If Vendor is not found anywhere, see below to delete contents of AppLoader folder. (Folder where you found Loader & Vendor.)

B. APPLOADER FOLDER ITEMS
Uninstall the OS: Control Panel\Programs and Features, highlight this BlackBerry Device Software, click Uninstall at top.
Delete AppLoader folder contents: Highlight any item, CTRL+A to select all, SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete.
�64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
�32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
Restart PC.
Re-install OS on PC: Go to your browser's downloads section, double-click OS to start InstallShield Wizard.
Delete Vendor: Return to AppLoader folder, highlight Vendor, SHIFT+DELETE.
Load OS to BB: Attach BB to PC, double-click Loader (in AppLoader folder, where you deleted Vendor

it is carrier specific, like I use Vodafone In my plan has unlimited data, i dont need a tether plan...my hotspot works without any extra plan/charges

This build is looking very promising for me. I had 7.1.190 installed since the day it was leaked, and was about ready to wipe my device and put 7.0.598 on it. I was experiencing so many performance issues with 190 that it was driving me nuts and I couldn't justify the poor experience just to have the hotspot feature that I might use only a few times a year. Most of those issues seem to be resolved with this build, so I'm happy so far.

Oh is that bad? I am still on the very first leak of OS 7.1 and I had zero performance issues. In terms of battery I used to have about 8% per hour and with OS 7.1.0.74 I get around 3% or so with the same amount of usage. I decided to put off upgrading for now since I am happy with the .74 build.

I see that you listed Telus as your Service Provider. ALL Telus plans on or over $50 with BIS includes FREE tethering. (unless you are on a cooperate plan or BES that blocks you from using) In other words, the wifi hotspot is free. I have been using wifi hotspot here and there since the first OS 7.1 came out with no additional charges. But remember whatever the data limit you have on your phone applies to the tethering too. For example if you have the plan with 500 MB of BIS data, when you use wifi hotspot, it uses data from that quota. So be careful because you will use it up very fast on hotspot.

Yes you can load the OS files in this package on Windows 7.

Not automatically by plugging in to the Download Manager, IF the official version is lower than the leaked OS. But you can wipe clean of all the OS files from your phone using a software and get back to a lower official version.

If the official version is a higher one than the leaked OS, then you can just plug in to DM and load the official one after downloading the official OS from the RIM's site.

I am on TMo USA and I also do not have NFC. I thought it was my BESX (this is my work phone) but i am guessing since you have the same issue, it is the cariier.

They do but I see you are on Tmo and I think they have not enabled it. other Tmo customers are asking the same thing. Myself included.

TMO USA, hotspot didn't work right away from this leak. It didn't even ask for the APN info so I knew right away it's not going to work. Swapped with the old net_rim_api_wlan_hotspot.cod from .74 and that did the trick. That lil cod is more precious than my apps backup lol. Well until I get screwed over by t-mobile and get a nice fat bill.

Can you tell me how you did this? Did you use BBSAK?

Can anyone tell me if this leak will fix the issue I'm having with vlingo? The 7.1.0 bundle 457 (v7.1.0.163, platform 5.1.0.137) update made it so that vlingo will not record through my bluetooth.

This OS is for the 9900 only. It won't work on a 9930.

OS's that gave me best battery performance as per order - 7.0.0.540, 7.1.0.190 and 7.1.0.205. I'm loving this leak.. By far the best bundle for my 9900. Period.

This OS version runs great.
Batterylife is really improved!

I only got 2 bad problems with it:
1. It's only qwerty - no qwertz.

2. Can't dial numbers - can make calls out of my adressbook, but when I want to dail a new number, I can't make calls.
It dails only letters and makes out of that strange numbers when I press the "call button". I have to save the number first in my adressbook and make a call out of that. Thats strange.
