I may be mistaken but on Mecca's 7.1 it always prompted me to turn on wifi if I selected mobile hotspot in Manage Connections. Now it automatically turns both on and starts the hotspot.
Pretty sure your decvice is a dud... I would take it in if you still can and if I were you

The only time the touchscreen freezing doesn't occur is when my BB is connected to my PC with the USB cable.
I read all 3 pages and was wondering if anyone notice anything different with browser speed or battery life. Can anyone tell me if they've noticed a difference?
Browser is excellent!
After the 3rd day or so of usage, will anyone know battery results. Its impossible to know anything before hand

Do you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on your computer?
Worked good for the 12 or so hours I had it installed...but - the no 2G 3G/4G switching ability is, for me, a dealbreaker. I frequently use my phone in high traffic (large crowd) areas, and as such will drop back to EDGE to be able to make and receive both calls and data. (Albeit slower). Without that capability, I can't take a chance.

Back to .540 for me.
Not understanding why some of you (and on the 9900 also) are losing lock on 2G option, as every single OS I have updated to, has always had this option.

How did you load?

Hey Zocster,
I have not yet installed this new leak yet and have not tried any of Mecca's hybrid builds - but it sounds like in this release the OS does not have the option to lock to 2G/3G - so I don't think it is an issue of improper installation to the device.
As I previously posted, hopefully there is some mechanism within the sfi (or somewhere in the OS) whereby it will "downswitch" to 2G/3G automatically in poor signal areas - but this is only a presumption on my part.

From your screenshot, earlier in the thread, it looks like you're DLing onto the phone. Note the .exe file extension. That's a PC file. You run it on your PC then use DM or its own loader.exe file to install via USB.
Everyone. Zocs and most of the 9900 .190 users all have the option to switch to 2G, which means something was left out. Testing for a way to recover this now...
At first I thought you were being a , then I looked and saw who was posting, put 2 and 2 together, got what you said, and got the Multiupload link. THANKS.
Sorry I am too dense to ever use your hybrids (tried twice, cried twice). Maybe how long it took me to get this post explains why I might have trouble with anything slightly more complex?
I downloaded and installed the leaked OS, but neither DM or Shrink-A-OS see the new OS. I deleted the vendor.xml file before installing the OS. Any ideas?
