Sorry for the slow response....I didn't see your question posted here until today.
The compression option is disabled at options>device>storage where you uncheck the "enable compression" box.
Hope this works for you.

never mind. Mine doesn't get any improvement. Still drains faster than any other previous versions.
Even without compression, I was noticing deteriorating battery life which I have now solved.....bought a new battery and battery life is now as good as new!
touch screen way more responsive, lags like a mother on incoming emails, messages etc.
I had that issue, give it time to settle in, after 2 or 3 battery pulls it was ok for me.
Hello,
I'm a Dutch Vodafone user and I also installed this new version.
Seemed ok at first but then I noticed:
My Nokia CK-7W bluetooth carkit does not autoconnect most of the times...
I need to shut down BT on the BB, then turn it back on again.
After that I need to push the Nokia button to connect.
Any other Bluetooth problems?
If this is not solved I'm going back to the previous version next week... :(
Regards, Godert
Check your device on another car or other bluetooth connection. See if another bluetooth device can connect to your car.
My blue tooth car connection worked fine after the install, but stopped working two weeks ago. Turns out the module in the car needs to be replaced.
I upgraded to the new OS on my Blackberry Torch and so far I see one problem, or is it a new feature to cancel out another feature. What I am talking about is, when you press the Call button to take you to your Phone's Dial pad, Incoming/Outgoing Call's List, and Contact list in this new update, you cannot use the phones touch feature to for example call anyone from the contact list neither from the Incoming\Outgoing call list by just simply touching the contact, I had to use the trackball to move around and select. But the touch feature on the dial pad works. I don't know if it is a problem by me only, other should download and see if they have the same problem. If it is a problem by me only, how to fix it? I downgraded to 6.0.0526 and no problem at all, everything works fine.
Any Ideas????
This is NOT a problem.. this has been explained several times. RIM has intentionally disabled that function.. Please read the full details about this earlier on in this same thread.
Anyone else having issues with text messages??
Say I have 2 unread texts and a couple of emails, I respond to the emails first, and when I go back to homescreen no unread messages, I open sms and the new texts looks like they have allready been read, its really annoying because if someone calls in the middle of all this you forget about the text and never reply it:-)
Battery life for me is actually up and down some days is pretty good, others its dead after 6-7 hours and I never use it for browsing..
And the lag is horrible sometimes it just freezes, touch doest respond, then you need to open slider, close slider, lock phone, unlock slider and then it responds..

am I the only one here that is getting horrible battery life off this build? What is the best OS version to use battery wise?
Bluetooth is shocking on this build, constant drop outs, sound quality is poor when media streaming.
Hi.. about 2 weeks of using the said version following are my findings -
- The touch dial does not work - as stated earlier
- the touch copy / cut / cancel selection options don't work either
- the Address book got jumbled a little, my previous address book was organised on purpose as -
First Name: First Name and Second Name in this field
Last Name : Company Name
I am able to sort the address book by last name field - hence by company name
However, upon upgrade my address book was jumbled as
First Name: First Name
Last Name: Last Name and Company Name
Apart from that its great.
Regards
Bluetooth has been bad on all Torch OSes since .448. I have rolled back to .337 because of this. What, if any, incremental improvements there have been in the OS builds since .337 certainly are not worth the horrifically bad Bluetooth implementation RIM has added/"upgraded" since then.
With .600, as with all builds since .448, I experience random termination of my car's handsfree connection, as well as frequent drop outs in streaming the media player to my BT headphones.
I tried loading the BT .cod files from .337 into .600 with disastrous results -- they cause an App Error 603 reboot loop.
I should also mention that I don't recall having the problem with .576, but I was on it for too short a time to be sure. I'd be surprised, though, if the problem had suddenly been fixed with that build and then just reappeared again with .600.
I've caught some functionality that is now gone from .600:
I used to be able to control volume and change tracks forwards and backwards with the volume buttons on the side of the Torch when the screen was locked. This was VERY nice while on a plane at night (no bright screen). In this version, if I lock the screen, those buttons are disabled. This hasn't happened in any other build I've used.
Hi Guys,
21 days or more, its working fine. Its not a very unstable version. Does have certain nuances that I've cited earlier but over all very stable, don't think I will switch back.

I don't think that its a general problem. I am not facing this issue.
No such issues being faced by me or my wife..upgraded her phone too.. Battery life is the same as before....
Bell has released this officially... any idea when TELUS will? They use the same cell towers and TELUS usually beats Bell to the punch. It's odd that they're lagging behind with this one.
please i downloaded the new OS for blackberry 9800 and wiped my 9800 but when i want load the new OS it tells me that it cant find the OS file.which is saved on my desktop...please what do i do...i have error 507 on my screen now
Did you run the file after you downloaded it. You have to do that so it will unzip the files into the right directories before it can be found by the OS loader (be it either the Desktop Manager or the standalone Loader program).

Hi, did you install the OS already before wiping your device ? Because you should. But if not, its ok. OS folder is located on
(32bit)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800AllLang_v6.0.0.600_P6.6.0.223
(64bit)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800AllLang_v6.0.0.600_P6.6.0.223
You can run/install the OS onto your device without running Desktop Manager. Just go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader then run loader.exe and so on.
Hope this helps. Goodluck
Edit : Make sure you delete Vendor.xml first after installing the OS on your PC. It is located on AppLoader folder where loader.exe exist.
is universal search broken in this build???
After many weeks of a full wipe and a clean install, I must say I am extremely happy with .600! Great battery life and it's very fast!!

No, it just doesn't like some themes. It seems to work fine with the basic ones, at least for me.
