Here's my short-version OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...

    ELITE1's Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE

    1. (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from your PC.
    2. Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer to do so, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, the browser is irrelevant though.)
    3. Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
    4. On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
    5. Go through any 3rd party apps that have option to save settings to media card, and conduct Backup to media card from menu within each of these apps. (Examples: all Bellshare apps such as BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps such as Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; Show Me The Images; etc).
    6. Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
    7. (Optional) Use desktop program like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
    8. On PC, navigate to
64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
    9. (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss or Shrink-A-OS/BBHybrids Tool.
    10. In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click on Loader to initiate OS upgrade. Follow onscreen instructions.

Ok glad you figured it out.

I was going to say that there are multiple CB threads on adding Arabic or Asian languages to your OS. If you Search the Forums you'll find some easy solutions.

It's not really different than downloading the leak directly on your PC. When you plug in your BB to your PC, select on your BB's screen to connect as USB drive. Then you can use Windows Explorer to navigate the files on your BB just like any other drive. Not sure if all systems do this by default, but on Win7 my BB is the G and H drives. Just Cut the file from there and Paste to your Desktop, or wherever else you'd like.

Noticed you have shrunk the OS. What are the benefits of doing this compared with leaving an OS as it is?
    Thanks in advance

Anyone else having a problem with the GPS? Doesn't seem to connect when using Google Maps, and when you go into the device menu for GPS and try to refresh the location, it says it cannot. I already wiped the device and reloaded the OS.

With OS6 on a 256MB device (like the 9300), file free after your OS is very precious.

RIM is lazy. Instead of customizing variants of the same OS version to cater to each carrier, they include everything that anybody might want. That's why we have these language packs with odd combinations of languages.

Some things, like languages, can be removed during the Loader process. However there are numerous items taking up space that you are otherwise not given the opportunity to remove in that conventional method. So... we shrink!

    A few examples would be:
    • carrier themes: your OS contains custom versions of the default theme for about a half-dozen different carriers
    • default wallpapers & ringtones: at about 4MB each, you may want to replace with your own selections on your media card
    • newly included fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, etc: up to 3MB each
    • some carrier-specific background apps: AT&T address book sync, T-Mo error translator, etc

I'll come back and post something about this that I put in the 9700 & 9800 Leaked 534 threads.

Okay here's some tips on what to shrink or not, just like the post title says.

    THEMES
Stock (ie default) theme is BlackBerry6 and must not be deleted

Vendor themes are unrelated to carrier splashscreen at startup. Splashscreen is flashed in hardware so can't be removed
Ex if AT&T 9700 unlocked to use on Rogers, still has AT&T startup screen

    LANGUAGES
You can remove English (US) if you really wanted. Without _en_us cod's there are still _en files for everything. I leave US files: not a big difference memory-wise

    FONTS
Default font is Latin TrueType. Must not be removed

Removing all fonts with BB Boss still leaves selection of "classic" stock fonts, ex BB Alpha Sans

Most new fonts are quite large. IIRC biggest culprits: Arial, Georgia, Courier, Tahoma, Times New Roman. Up to 3MB each! Only keep ones you really want

For Fancy Characters app, leaving Chinese Support adds additional characters into FC
NOTE: your recipients only see them if they too have Chinese Support, otherwise just see black square

    FEEL FREE TO REMOVE
DoD Certs - unless you work for US Department of Defense

S/MIME - unless you're on BES or BESX

    BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY
OTA Upgrade - tiny memory size; removal caused fatal errors with some OS versions, sometimes days or weeks later

TTY Support - tiny memory size; removal has removed Phone Options with some OS versions

Accessibility - tiny memory size; removal has removed some options with some OS versions

Rename Removed file adding OS version. Save somewhere in case needed
