Hey. Been told that battery pull would solve the problem. I tried but no luck yet it might work on your case.
I am now using another theme instead so in a way the blue line no longer bothers me.
I am very pleased with the upgrade. One small thing nobody has mentioned is that the Reverse Lookup feature of Poynt now works again. I like that.
I simultaneously grabbed the Section8 theme mentioned earlier in this thread and that makes me even more pleased.
tried doing battery pull it wont work, so i clean wipe the device again and reinstall the .480 again. the thin blue line was gone. i thought it was settled then. but after i upgraded the new WhatsApp from the blackberry appworld, the thin blue line came back again. so frustrating. i really like the os6 theme layout and all
When you load this operating system into your BlackBerry, does it erase all other files? Or does it keep everything (personal settings, contacts, downloaded apps) intact?
Also, I'm using a Mac. What would be the best way to ensure the operating system's erased entirely? Security wipe or go through the motions and uncheck everything on the Desktop Manager?
1) Yes it does, make sure you backup everything
2) You can't load a leaked OS with a Mac, use a PC

Hi I'm new here and I just got a Bold 9780 last week. It currently has 6.0.0.285 and that is also the latest version on the Canadian Bell Mobility download site. I've ready that if I were to update to this un-official version it could void my warranty etc. When do you think the next offical version will be released? It appears that Bell Mobility is not up to date as I thought there was an official 6.0.0.448?
Updating your operating system won't void your warranty. I've done numerous exchanges after having used leaked OS'. What will void it is debranding your device, which is something different altogether.
There is an official version of .448 from a different provider ;-)
A list of all the OS' (both official & leaked) can be found here:
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-os
Thanks for the info. Are there any differences between the OS from a different provider than the one you're with? Or are they all generic and just have to be approved by each service provider maybe?
No prob.
As far as I'm aware, each provider tests each OS that comes out to see how it works on their phones/network and once they approve it, it becomes an official one for them. There's no difference in the OS between different providers, so if you were to download the Cosmote one for .448, no one would ever know what provider it came from. If your provider asks you which one you're using, you could always tell 'em it's their latest ver as otherwise they'll tell you they don't support the OS you're using and won't help you with your device until you downgrade back to their latest approved one.

I decided to give 480 a shot anyways. I did a backup and the installation was quite simple following the how-to. The only thing I think I lost are a few bbm and text messages... and having to re-type all my username and passwords. I find the trackpad moves a lot quicker now but that's about all I can report because I haven't had much use yet even at the older 285 version.
Thanks again for your help!
so i'm considering installing the leaked os, but i wanted to ask a couple of questions! what has your experience been with blackberry swiss army knife and should i use it to load the system onto my blackberry, or stick with the pc's desktop manager? after reading all the help guides, i'm aware of all the steps but i'm a little wary of installing the os because of some people having nuked blackberry issues .. is the upgrade from .285 to .480 worth it? could some people talk about the improvements with the leaked os and overall, what rating would they give it in comparision to .285?
The upgrade is definately worth it. 285 is horrible, full of bugs and very laggy.
You don't need the BlackBerry Desktop Manager or BBSAK to upgrade.
Simple download the OS....
Go to >>> Computer >>> C: >>> Program Files >>> Common Files >>> Research in Motion >>> Apploader
delete the vendor.xml file
while in that folder, double click on the Loader.exe file to start the update.
Make sure you make a backup first using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager then close it. It should not be running while you are doing the upgrade.
you are very right. Official or leaked is the same, they are the same OS released by RIM. Its just that a specific carrier declares it or tags it official after they have done some tests on it. nothing more nothing less.
I don't know if it is this build or what but I continually need to reboot in order for my GPS function to work with either Google Maps or BB Maps or any app that uses GPS. After reboot it locks on in about 10 seconds.
Does anyone else have this issue. It sucks. I wish I knew how to correct it.
Just downloaded and loaded this to my new 9780 :)
So far so good.
No issue here :) Works always whether in BB Maps or in Google Maps :)
I noticed the "Alarm" in the home screen drop-down menu (or whatever it's called) is cut off. It used to say: Alarm On (0900). Now it's cut off: Alarm ON (
No biggie. Just cosmetics.
Yep observed the same..
Also observed one thing:
Change FROM a theme with notification bar TO a theme with non-notification bar.
After that, change the non-notification bar TO a theme with notification bar (the easy choice is the default Blackberry 6 theme).
*theme with notification bar for example is the default OS 6 theme (Blackberry 6), which refers to the notification bar between the sound profile and universal search on the home screen.
What will happen is, it won't let me go to Home screen on changing the theme back to OS 6 theme default one.
Anyone facing the same issue???
Note: Abv post was copied from earlier post from MAYWELL as i facing the same issue as him
My battery life is making me crazy.
yesterday at night i charged my 9780 (100%), went to sleep and when i woke up the indicator tells me that battery was at 98% during night... wifi was on, and 2hr schedule update at ubersocial and berryweather 1hr update, until here that's normal.
during the day i sent some sms's, 3 or emails, checked 1 or two mobile pages at the browser, and my battery life is now at 14% and it's only middle of the day.
wtf?!
Give it a few days to settle in. 480 has amazing battery life!
Check this thread >>> http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/6-0...5-days-592575/
i have .480 since the day it came out, so i think it's settled.
it's about 8PM here and i still have 5%
Heyyyy guys... last nite having some trouble with the .480 i re-installed .448. what surprise me was when i plugged my phone to usb dis mrng putting DM on, it asked that update available for .480 do you want to continue???
Does this mean .480 is going official?? bcoz when i checked the site they still din't show .480 in the OS upgrades.
it's because you have .480 installed on your pc :)
