On my Torch 9860 on O2 UK I just got a Software Update notification for 7.1.0 Bundle 2930.

Never done an OTA BBOS update before, is it reliable? I'm doing a full backup first!

What's in this update? Camera on lock screen like the 9720?

Typically, the OTA pushed out by your carrier is safe enough. However, it will likely take longer than if you upgraded using Desktop Manager. If you plug your device in, it should read the available upgrade. You're plan to backup first is very wise. Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it...

Hmm Desktop Software didn't seem to detect an update so I'm giving the OTA one a go overnight. We shall see how things look in the morning.

I continually get 'The download cannot continue because your devise cannot connect to the update server using the following methods: *Wi-Fi.
This is Horlicks as I can easily connect to Blackberry World and have just downloaded a new theme. No updates are found when using the Blackberry Desktop Software, this finds 'no updates available'. Any help will be very much appreciated.

I got the same message a couple of times including my overnight attempt. Seems for me it won't do it over WiFi, tried over the mobile network this morning and it started working. It's been chugging away for the last hour.

For anyone having an issue with the OTA, or if DM isn't registering an update, you can download your carrier's latest OS to your PC then install from there. Here's the page with links to all the carrier pages:

So after about 3 hours the update completed OTA over the mobile network.

It wasn't without issue after that though as the first reboot hung on the carrier logo after the progress bar, had to battery pull it, then BBM wouldn't sign back in after doing a BlackBerry ID Update. I remembered I had a beta version of BlackBerry World installed which needed a key code again so reinstalled that and then BBM could sign in - they seem to be connected somehow!

    All seems ok now.
