I am trying to update my blackberry bold 9000 to 5.0 software update but it says there is not sufficient memory available when there is still lots of free memory on the phone.

Did you try wiping the device and doing a fresh install?

Before you wipe backup your data and when loading is complete you can restore everything

I received the same error when trying to update my 9530 from 5.0.0.323 to the official 5.0.0.328.

BUT, I also just updated to desktop software 5.0.1 right before installing the new OS on my PC, so I'm thinking maybe there is actually an issue with the new desktop software and not the new OS itself.

Are you still running desktop 5.0 or did you upgrade to SP1?

Got the same message after the SP1 update. Just waiting to update the Phone OS through BBSAK when final comes out as I am too frustrated with the memory drain and then the reboots.
