I didn't feel like reading all 24 pages, but as of May 11th, 2009...I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless, and they said it would be an extra $30 a month to tether your blackberry.

Hey guys I have a BB 8350i, on the front page I saw a link to download SmartView, If I download and use that will I incurr a monthly charge on my acct? And with the set of instructions; when I go to the "Standard Modem" under the 'Modems' tab, click properties, go to the Diagnostics tab and click Query Modem, it gives me an Error "The modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly connecte dand turned on. If it is an internal modem os is connected, verify that the interfupt for the port is properly set." In the first box labeled "Modem Information" it says under Field: Hardware ID; under Value: mdmgen. If somebody could please point me in the right direction that'd be grately appreciated!

    Equipment:
    -BB Pearl(at&t/cingular)
    -Windows XP v5.1 sp2
    -BB Desktop manager v4.2

I've set up my Pearl to use as a modem and it shows that it connects at 115.2 kbps. but when I attempt to visit any website, I get "Connection Interrupted" on the browser?

anyone willing to help? or at least send me a link to a walkthru would be cool!

    thanks

Has anyone gotten a Bold running OS 5.0.93 and DM 5.0 on a PC using XP SP3 to tether? Mine was working perfectly prior to the change from an earlier version of OS (ATT standard .167) but I just cannot get it work again. If anyone has any pointers I would be grateful.

I tried the instructions and I get to the point of adding the extra initializing commands and it won't let me click on the box and type anything.

    Any thoughts?

I followed these instructions and was able to teather and connect. The speed is very slow. I tested it at around 50 down. The connection speed was defaulted to 115 originally so I left it that way. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else have very slow speeds?

    I entered the APN as:
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

When Ilooked on mt phone (options, Advanced Options, TCP) the APN is:
    epc.tmobile.com

Should I use this instead of the wap?

No, just got off the Phone with Tmobile. Use this instead.

    at+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

and make sure IP is capatalized. most guides do not have the "at" at the beginning.

Problem resolved...I have edited this post as Mobishark has issued me a refund.

In fairness to Mobishark, since my posts, they hooked me up to remote desktop help and spent a considerable amount of time trying to correct the problem. In the end, we were not able to make it work on my particular model (8700C). They stated that in 4 years this has never been encountered and they issued me a refund to my paypal account with their apologies.
To me, in the end, thats really all a consumer can expect
    Thanks Doug

After playing around with some of the settings, I was able to get 8310 tethered to computer. I am in Mazatlan using Telcel. However, I am not able to get more than 9600 baud in speed. Is that about the maximum available on 8310 or is dependent upon carrier?
