how do i go about upgrade the firmware/software for my new storm I see there are instruction at the front of the post but where do you get the leak to download? and does it make much difference? i'm running on vodafone. any other advice to improve on the basic?

Upgraded from 75 to 99 to 103 and 109 (about 10 days ago). All upgrades loaded perfectly – about 35-40 minutes to complete. 109 works fine for me. Biggest issue for me is still the camera lag – better than other upgrades but the lag is still pretty lame. 109 seems to have more memory leak and have had a couple of unexplained shutdowns. But all other features and 3rd party applications performing without problems. I’m happy with 109. Overall biggest problem is (you guessed it) Verizon – signal in my home office (Manhattan Beach, CA) is non existent. Have to walk up and down the street to find a strong signal.

NOTE: If you get an error during this process, clear your browser cache (Browser > Menu Key > options > cache operation > clear all of them)

I did this and still get an "Unknown Error" when i try to back up my storm. It happens after the top progress bar makes it all the way through "Auto Text". I have never actually been able to back up my storm since i got it. I always get the same error in the same place.

Brand new storm, upgraded to 109 from 75, shows in about tab that upgrade went through. Having email setup issues. It see's the prior accounts that were on the phone, but will not save the passwords, thus they are not connecting. Any thoughts on what I can do?

Just did upgrade to .103, looks like everything went fine - thanks to OP for the step by step walk through. Question I have is do I need to do the 3rd party application restore or was the backup only to recover if something went wrong with update? Reason I ask is all my 3rd party applications (such as QuickLaunch) are looking for activation key input again, does the 3rd party application restore resolve that or is it expected to enter the activation keys again?

was very hesistant to upgrade... finally got the courage to do it. this thread helped alot. thank you!! had some issues, lost some stuff but restored using dm and got most of it back... did some searching in the forums and found out how to get the browser back.. seems like i lost it with the upgrade. overall, so far, im content with my decision. again... thank you for the step by step and holding my hand along the way

I upgraded to .109 but then downgraded back to .75.... Now im trying to upgrade again and keep it forsure but when i hit application loader it won't show .109.... Meaning no UPDATE AVAILABLE. Any suggestions?

i downloaded the 109 version from the crackberry link and clicked ''run'' instead of ''save''. i had my storm plugged in and the desktop manager open. when it was done downloading it automatically updated my storm and im now running 109. i didnt have to do anything from the directions. maybe i did it wrong but it was way easier

I have finally decided to go from .75 to .109 and this is my first BB and first attempt at upgrading to a leaked OS.

I downloaded 4.7.0.109, so far so good. I saved it to my desktop. How do I open it and install it? If I click on it I get the Windows message that no program exists to open it, do I want to look for one? Help.
So how do I get the program into the applications loader so I can install it?

Fixed. For some reason the first time I downloaded the file it did not contain the .exe file. Deleted and downloaded again and I'm good....so far.

Hi all,
I'm at a loss and thought you might be able to help me. I had .75 on my BB Storm and tried to upgrade to 114. I followed all of the instructions on how to properly do it...downloaded 114 onto my computer, went through the wizard and it said that installation was successful. The I hooked up my Storm and went to the Application Loader. Tried to update it, and it just kept telling me that "no software update is required for your device". It didn't give me any indication that 114 is even on the device manager, but I checked in the "Uninstall Programs" on my PC and it's there.

Then, I did something possibly silly by downgrading my firmware to .65 to see if that would help anything, and alas, nada.

Is there any advice that you can give me? I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Everyone,
I upgraded to 4.7.0.114 and have found an issue. When on a phone call and you need to type a number during the cal (voicemail or extension numbers) you are not able to. When press the screen to show the key board you get a qwerty keyboard and you are unable to use the numbers. also when you are on a call, and someone calls in to your phone, you cannot see the call display. It is distorted.
I have now just gone back to .109 due to these issues. I really hope they find a resolve soon for that.
Otherwise, it is good.
