Um... You install desktop software on your laptop, not your phone. You can download it from here, then after it is installed, you connect your 9900

why bother with cd when in this era, things can be downloaded from the web?

could be due to cost and environmental issue =)

CD software can also be out of date quickly, downloading from the internet makes sure you have the latest version. Plus it's to cut costs and size of the box.
