Is there a way to completely get rid of using a password once someone has started. I recently bought a bold off of ebay and the other person was using a password. I do not want or need a password and want to stop having to input one, but when I go into that screen it wont let me disable the password. HELP!

ok ***** here, what is Jl Commander?
ok Jl commander is a simple program that lets you connect and full wipe a BB unit... it will wipe it to the poin tthat not even an OS will be on the mobile so you will need to then reinstall the OS and it will be like you just unboxed the unit..in fact some phones that already have a few apps in them like google talk msn etc might even lose those but you can always download them again. I did that to my 8220 to solve an issue with he leaked Facebook when the official came out and it was easy. the only thing is that make sure you wont need to use the phone for about 1 hour as the process of installing the os again and the first boot after you do take a long time.

Some quick newbie questions: does a full wipe (data and applications) erase my BIS/BES registrations with the providers as well? Will I need to register again? Will I need to re-install the OS to start the BB up again? And if so, how?

    Thanks.

I used this to wipe all my data off my 8800 before sending it to my BF's daughter. I did this with both the SIMcard and the SDcard removed, and service stopped.

If you're in an even bigger "hurry" to wipe your berry, when you're setting up your password, you can change the password settings from 10 to something less (like 3, if you're impatient like me!!!!)

For whatever reason, this didn't delete the Apps that I had, but that isnt a big deal for me in this case.

Thanks for the information. I am always amazed at the information (Contacts, Pictures, To DO Lists) people leave on their phones when they trade in. I supervise a charity drop off point for used cell phones and we as a courtesy try to blank them, but don't always get a chance.

I have BB 9000 with .509 OS. When I go under security and at the bottom is says Security Wipe. Is that where I would go to do full wipe on this OS?
    04-05-10 02:58 PM
  24. vecharo's Avatar
@kimbercutes824 - security wipe will wipe all your data (contacts, calendar appts, etc0. it is not a full wipe of the OS. the OS will still be there. I used security wipe when i gave my phone to a friend. the OS remained as did all the apps. If i was giving the phone to a stranger then i'd wipe the OS using BBSAK (RIMGeeks.com • View topic - [Beta][10/25/09] BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife v1.7.0)
