At least thats what I think it is...its a little "lifeline/hear-rate" looking icon next to my other indicators.

It also made the LED red flash to go of.
What does it signify and how do I get rid of it?

click on it, it will tell you what applications may be using an excess of your resources.. You can then decide whetehr you would like to terminate or leave it open.

If you can't select it, type in application from universal search and click the icon and then follow the instructions.
