Yes, its an IM chat program like all the others, except its only for BlackBerry users.
It is for BlackBerrys only and uses the PIN system.
Its BB's exclusive club :D

Oh there are plenty of places to find Blackberry Messenger buddies to chat with. Try looking into the social users sub forum and there's different groups that go by age, state, interests blah blah blah.
I believe it's pretty fast and instant. Great way to send pic/files quickly as well.
