Why is it now that we cannot have more than 30 participants in a BBM Group? Unless there is a way to get around this and I don't know about it, but if this is how its set now by RIM, its pretty stupid to max it out at 30 participants.
I suspect the reason they put a hard cap on it was because RIM knows that the handling of groups and the involved data is very inefficient and in an even remotely active group with that many people, it can cause devices of everyone in the group to lag and the battery drain due to all the data transfer that goes on.
RIM should be able to develop a way to be able to manage a good volume of participants in a group without it effecting the devices via lag because of data transfers...you make sense in saying don't get me wrong...I guess its easier said than done from my part...lol...hopefully this changes
They probably could, if they wanted to. As I currently have 5 groups, one of them has been maxed at least twice, and we found that even maxed, there were members who just weren't active. They'd get added and not chat, or even say Hi! every once in a while. And, when 20 members are very active, I does get pretty chaotic. 30 I haven't seen yet, but it could be amusing. I doubt they'll have much incentive to make a move to change anytime soon.

Iv been in groups with around 15 people and it gets busy. My phones constantly vibrating etc. Id hate to think what its like with more than 30. I think RIM hit this right.

30 is a generous limit. Anything more than that would be completely chaotic.
I rarely use the groups function. Every time I've been in one larger than about 4 or 5 people, I thought my phone was going to blow up from the constant activity.
I don't think you even have to get to 30 to be chaotic. For me, 10 would be more than enough!
