Ok I have been watching over the weekend on how people are on a love hate relationship with the new BBM 5.0.
A lot of people are not aware or just plain do not want to wipe their device (understandable)
Well thanks to thinkamp from this site who posted up a direct link for an ota fix for the BBM client, I am now back to using the original version.
Here is the link.

As much as I would love to take the credit for this link, thinkamp is the user who posted it somewhere in the middle of a thread so not a lot of people would see it. I have noticed there are SOOOOOOOOOO many threads started about "how do I switch back" so I thought I would take the liberty to post this for everybody.

I cannot take credit for this link. A buddy of mine knew I was having the hardest time with my BBM and OS and all that other crap. He then found a post that had that link it and sent it to me right away. I was very iffy on trying it, but I did and it worked.
Make sure you delete the old BBM from your apps list. Let your phone reboot and then click the link and download.
FYI On mine it didn't save my contacts so I would suggest backing up your phone and your BBM contacts.
thanks again for saving my arse! I had 5.0 installed for 20 minutes and then deleted that junk. The link you provided has my phone running os v.160 back to normal now.
Interesting that I have the v.77 bbm running smooth with v.160 os...isnt it the same bbm version throughout all of the later os'?
it erased my contacts when i did the install.
all you have to do is copy and paste the users pin to their name in your address book and if you couldnt or didnt do a backup you can get your contacts back.

but you were the first to post it here so i have to give you credit, lol
Have people found that the downgrade helps? I've been hearing that these problems are evident in 4.7 bbm as well and it might not be related to 5.0 at all, just a coincidence
i think it is picky with different devices.
i have found a lag with the 5.0 and now with the restore.
i think they may be doing something to the servers or they are overloaded from all the new tour sales
i have used this link to revert back from 5.0. however, i have a bold and this link seems to be running an older version of the BBM. is there an OTA download for the BOLD?
I am wondering if the blackberry support team for your provider has an ota link to the original bbm?
They have had an ota link for everything I have ever needed before

Oh, man, this would have been so helpful yesterday when I was scouring the forums for an OTA link. Ah, well, I used DM and it worked fine. But thanks for posting the link. I think a lot of people, myself most certainly included, got too hasty with the thought of BBM 5.0 and then wanted to backtrack.
ok, so I may have jumped the gun getting excited about this. I downloaded the messenger and it downloaded just fine, then i sent out all of my requests for my friends to add me. All was well until i see that my sister said she accepted my request and nothing happened on my end. Then she messaged me and it came through just fine but it shows that she still has not accepted my request. Is there something I have done wrong?
No the people on the other end STILL have you on there BBM from the first update...all they need to do is delete you and re-add you. I had a couple that I had to do that with.
Now I'm confused...I did the ota install of 5.0, then downgraded using destop manager (too much lag time). In my applications list it shows both 5.0 and 4.5. Is there any reason for me to delete 5.0?
Yes, why have 5.0 when it not being used?!?
Delete BBM 5.0 of your applications list. and let the phone reboot.
Then go to the link posted throughout this form to download it straight to your phone.
backup your contacts tho.
