Excellent post. It solves the problem that when I sent an email from my blackberry (using the gmail account), I get an copy sent back to my inbox (instead of just having it in sent items).

However, now if I want to email myself some information from my computer gmail account (say directions to somewhere) so that I have it on my gmail account (and on my blackberry), I am unable to do so. Any ideas?

Here is where people can access their BIS account:

Also, you can modify your settings within Gmail to such that Gmail archives it's copy of the message rather than sending it out AGAIN as a new message. I've also found that if you forward Gmail to your BB account rather than configuring BIS to retrieve it, you receive mail instantly rather than the 3-5 min delay.

I agree - I use the forward in Gmail. Speedy

Gmail is now instant with the recent BIS update. I suggest you try it again. Also, if you are only using forwarding you cannot send from the account, only receive.

Very true, Trevor. I don't need to send from that gmail account. It's great with the update that it's now instant. Best of both worlds!

ok i understand the tutorial and have done it but it still doesn't work for me. Using 8300 and ATT I still get CC'ed copies when I send using outlook and my bb. Is there another step I need to take??

I say read the steps again (print them out if you have to), and follow them slowly! It does work; there is even a screenshot that I posted, you really can't go wrong...

ok so it seems none of my filters work. If i click "do not forward messages to device" i still get email. Anyone have any idea whats going on? Nothing I do in BIS works except I can add new email addresses fine, just no filters. ??

Hi....new to the site and love this resource.

I used the filter to stop getting my sent messages on the BB, but how do I stop them being sent into my Gmail account? Is there a way to stop them?

In GMail, just set the filter to archive the email...

That was an excellent post, thanks!

I have a related question - when I used to send email from my Nokia using the Gmail app or using the Gmail website (yuk), that sent mail downloaded to my Apple Mail app and got put into Sent items as a new mail. This was handy as it meant I always had all my mail on my home computer, my base of operations so to speak.

However, if I send Gmail from my BB, it appears in the Gmail website in my Sent items (good) but doesn't download to Apple Mail (not good).

    Any ideas on that?
