First let me say that I have NOT read all of the OS6 posts. Since there are so many I hope everyone understands.

I have a 9700 running OS 5.0.0.1014 and tried OS 6.0.0.380 that I downloaded from an Asian site. I had some issues with some of my 3rd party apps not running properly. So I went back to OS5.

Today when I connected my BB to my computer I received a message that there was an upgrade available. OS 6.0.0.380.

My question: Would this version be any different then the one I already downloaded?

    TIA

No, in fact, it's the exact same OS you had on it previously. It was never un-installed and DM recognized it.

What do you mean it wasn't un-installed?

I un-installed it from my computer and I wiped my phone before putting OS5 back on it.

First of all if you want to have os 5, the beet way is uninstall the DM and install back. After that install the os 5 patch.

The reason DM deteched os 6 could be:
    1. The phone is still running os 6.
    2. The DM is still os 6.

Either way, just by looking at your phone screen would tell you which is the problem since layout for both os is vast different

You installed 6.0.0.380 and desktop manager recognized it. You just need to uninstall the BlackBerry Device Software Version 6.0 from add/remove programs (Add or Change Programs in vista or 7) and you will be fine.

First let me apologize to everyone. I originally install OS6 from my work computer then over the weekend played with it and wiped the phone and re-installed it on my home computer. When it still didn't work like I had hoped I uninstalled OS6 and re-installed OS5. Then when I came to work on Monday I received the message I indicated at the beginning of this thread. I didn't realize I hadn't uninstalled OS6 from my work computer until today.

    I'm sorry if I wasted anyone's time.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm still having a few issues but will search the board before posting them.

By the way, there is a new OS 6 leak now you should try it

    6.0.0.448
    I put .424 on my 9700. Isn't .428 just for the 9780?
