Once you are have cleared the event log, press menu and select options. Set Min Log Level to WARNING.
Press menu again and and select options and take the check
out of every box. Save, exit and you're done. Good for about
1.5 to 2 meg of memory depending on the apps you have installed.

I also cleared my log and set it to not log anything.
To add to what AG said, if you go into menu and then options and then scroll down to the area where the checkboxes are you can just hit menu again and choose hide all types. This way you don't have to uncheck each box.
And remember, if you upgrade (or downgrade) your OS you'll need to do this all over again.

Anyone have a negative effect from doing this like I have? Before I did it I had just over 40 mil bytes and now its been fluctuating between 38 and 39 million.

I didn't start to notice anything weird until I deleted the logs. And I didn't disable them just deleted what I had built up. Now my memory is down lower to 37 million bytes. I have not recently installed any apps either.
I should add that when I went to bed last night I had 38 million bytes and woke up with 37. What could be eating it up while its not being used?

You can always do a soft reset and hope the memory goes back up. But seriously from 38 to 37 and back to 38 is really negligible. Blackberries are known to leak memory sometimes.
OK I get clearing the event logs, but has anyone had anything bad happen to your phone from stopping the log from being created? I mean like phone dropping calls or rebooting by itself.
There will be no ill effects from preventing the log from being created. As I posted earlier, it can be deleted completely and everything will be alright. It is merely a diagnostic tool, nothing more.

I've gone 5 months with it off, absolutely no ill effects. Next time i'm in my OS I'll take out the file that Crucial pointed out earlier.
