Hi, I live in Barbados and legacy BB devices are still prevalent. Not that people prefer them over BlackBerry 10, but they're cheaper to come by second-hand or refurbished.

Now, I have a friend who has two options before him....A Curve 9360 or a Bold 9700. The 9360 is newer than the 9700 and runs OS7.1 if I'm not mistaken. But in terms of build quality, smoothness and known issues, would you take a 9360 over a 9700?

    Hey Now...
Out of the box the 9700 had better battery life than the 9360. The 9360 with newer Operating Systems have decent battery life than the original OS which required charging 2 times a day. The latest OS is better on the 9360. The 9360 also was the first slim device and has an NFC chip in the battery cover which is a hardware upgrade from the 9700's. I would go with the 9360 and make sure you have the latest OS.
    I hope this helps

Owned a Curve 9360 for about 9 months during 2012. Really nice phone. Slim, sleek device.

    Positives:
    1. Good pixel density (i.e. easy to read text) and bright screen
    2. Keyboard is accurate with island keys well spaced

    Negative:
    1. IMHO the battery life isn't superb (i.e. a light /moderate user such as myself still needed to charge every evening)

I would take the 9700 'cause the battery is ten times better and the camera haves autofocus. You have no idea how crappy a camera with fixed focus is. Also the 9700 keyboard is from Bold line which is better to type and doesn't have that crappy typing sound that the Curve line haves. On the other hand, the 9360 is more advanced in terms of browser and stuffs, and haves NFC which I have since the 9790 and never ever use it

Very interesting. My major problem with the Curve is the build quality. The rubberised side decays after a while. The Bold line doesn't decay.

The 9700 is a great device, I had both of them and I like the Bold a lot more.

For this reason alone, I would not take the 9360. Having used both variants, I would prefer the 9700 in most regards.
