This is a great tip! The signal power bar on my theme was hard to read so this makes it 1000% better!

Linda! I haven't seen you around in quite a while. How's by you?
I lurk in the shadows and monitor the "going on." I sure wish AT&T wud let wi-fi work like T-Mobile does.

We pay extra for missing features, it's an honor and a privilege! Should we get your name changed to Linda J.A.F.O. Anne? Or maybe just The Shadow.

Just tried this on my vz 8330 and it works great. It also displays triple digit numbers when my signal gets really low.

You've only got 2 options. A theme that uses a percentage as a display...
please do tell this noob how to get one of these? can the stock themes be edited? i'm not vain enough to want to build one from scratch...

    thx.

I suspect it's the same as all Pearls. Hold the alt key and press: N,N,M,L,L

You can always find someone on the theme thread to make it for you. They usually don't ask for much, considering the time it takes.

i can confirm that the above just worked on my vzw 8230.

    thx much.

It doesn't work on my Curve. The bars disappear, but it just leaves nothing.

Your bar disappeared, so it did. The problem is the numbers are black. It must be a dark color where your bars were.

WEll, dang, you're right... Changed my home screen, and there it is. I figured it'd still be that goldish-yellow color.

How about you just check? I promise you, your storm will still work either way. Well, it will still be a storm, so it will work sometimes, but this will have no ill effects. Just try. Jeez.

It does NOT work on the storm, anyone know the keys to do it? The storm seems different from others, ie> to view event log is /././ I believe on storm, nothing like that on any other bb

    Edit...

Works with the Storm as well , only you have to type !,""

Too bad there isn't a way to change the color of the dBm. Or is there?

Nope, but you can always do a little PhotoShopping on your wallpaper.

Thanks! Very helpful and interesting. And it's amazing to see there isn't all that much difference between 2 bars and 4 bars!

As I posted back on Day 1, here is an approximate tabulation of the # of Bars as a function of signal level in dBM:

    1 bar ~ -102 to -120 dBM
    2 Bars ~ -93 to -101 dBM
    3 Bars ~ -87 to -92 dBM
    4 Bars ~ -78 to -86 dBM
    5 Bars ~ -40 to -77 dBM

On the above, keep in mind that a 3 dB change represents a halving, or a doubling, of signal power. As a ROUGH measure, the difference between 2 bars and 4 is 7 dB.

Sure wish there was a code for battery level !!

Ah, interesting! So bigger difference than it seems.

Too bad the numbers are so small (and black font). I can't read them.

Sorry about the number size! It's not MY fault. I was in the bathroom when it happened.
