The numbers are black. What color is your wallpaper where the signal strength is displayed?

I've een trying to find THAT out for years with no luck, at least ever since I made the first post here on changing bars to signal level in terms of dBM.

Gud luck in finding the hidden key code!

i just did this on my Alltel 8130...it worked GREAT as soon as i read the post to push the N key 2 times. wish the numbers weren't in black (i have a pic of my wife as my background, her brunette hair is causing a vision problem, lol) but heck, it's pretty cool nonetheless...thanks!

    on the storm :

open the keyboard in landscape mode .
press and hold the !?123 key untill it locks then release it .
    then type :

    ! , " "

those are the same keys as

    N M L L

you just dont have to hold the alt button on a storm it holds itself....

If your in a place with a weak signal, you can use it to hone in on the best location. It could be the difference between service and no service. I've used it a lot.

So is there a setting that can be changed on a 8330 display that will allow the numbers to be seen?

Sounds like a great little trick but it didn't work on my 8330.
When I did it the bars immediatley went away but there was nothing there other than "1XEV" which was alwasy there if my signal was strong enough of course.
Before I did it I had 5 full bars.
I left it for a littel bit but nothing changed so I set it back.

EDIT: Missed the last few pages of posts. Guess others are having the same issue with the 8330.
Oh well, thanks anyway. Little tips like this are always welcome and appreciated...even more so when they work... JK. Still appreciated!

EDIT #2 - OK, so it's the fact that the numbers are in black and that's why I can't see them.
I am runing the 8900 today replica v2 theme which produces a black transparent bar at the top of the screen so even with a light back ground I will most likely not be able to see them.
Oh well, I'll have to remember this for when I change themes.
