On a quick lunch break right now. The Boost phones are 8330M phones. It shows the MEID on the status page on my phone.
I got my phone Monday evening. I just called a small dealer and they had gotten 3 in but were waiting on another 15. The search function is up and working now on the Boost site. So if anyone is looking for one go give it a try.
its an "8330m" only, and ONLY, if it shows "8330m" on the Options-About screen.
Just proves Crackberry's earlier blog stating that RIM released to carriers already and they are the ones holding it up! Funny thing is I just checked VZW's dl site and they finally today list the .175 update that everyones already gotten through DM and Sprints had for months. Guess they dont like the 5.0 version that RIM obviously feels is good to go. Too many probs with their proprietary stuff working w/ 5.0 on 8330 I guess hahah!
I dont get whats the difference with an 8330 and 8330m. Can this work with a Tmo 8330???
There's no such thing as an TMO 8330. 8330 is the CDMA version of the curve, and is different from the other 83xx (all GSM) versions. None of the GSM versions can run 5.0 - they have much less memory and aren't capable. As it is, the 8330 can barely do it.
So to answer your question, no. You can't run it on your TMO Curve.
i think the problem is people associate the 8330m as an meid device, and it appears that 8330m is just a completely different device where 8330 can have an esn or meid serial.
so would installing this void my warranty with verizon? and if i bricked it, would there be a way to restore it without contacting verizon?
and sorry for the nub questions.
Hi Raymond, nice to meet ya, I'm Raymond as well. To answer your first question, it technically does void your warranty to use a non approved OS, but so long as the phone still works, you can always reinstall the approved OS before sending it in for service. If you brick it, you should be able to fix it if you follow the steps listed in the blackberry 101 section.
