BlackBerry Traffic EOL March 27, 2015 - No Alternative on < OS7
- For BB to exist, people must move on instead of hanging onto old *** hw then blame BB for not doing well.
Yes I know the old devices works well still, that's part of the problem. Iphone 6>5>4>3 by very marginal upgrades and Apple people buy them and hence Apple succeeds.
BB10 is >>>>>>>>> over OS7 and below device and no one upgrades..
With classic out now, there is no excuse not to support BB.
I still see people with freaking Curves 8300 walking around with probably OS4.5.. Sad.
On Topic though, I use Maps and it does a fine job. It routes you based on traffic. A lot of time it routes me to exit and then back on again if it knows there is traffic on the Hwy/fwy.Droidophobe and acovey like this.03-02-15 05:14 PMLike 2 - We want to upgrade our white dismantling bold for a white classic but stupid bb won't tell us when it's available and she may just say screw it and go iPhone.03-02-15 05:15 PMLike 0

- That's too bad.
I still use my 9900 despite having a Z10 (now a glorified media player) simply because Link is terrible and if it takes half an hour to sync every time versus a few minutes with the normal Desktop Software then it's not even worth the trouble.
Too bad about Blackberry Traffic. They could have at least maintained it in BB10. The text to let someone know you're coming is especially unique and useful. A real shame.acovey likes this.03-02-15 06:10 PMLike 1 - I still use my 9900 despite having a Z10 (now a glorified media player) simply because Link is terrible and if it takes half an hour to sync every time versus a few minutes with the normal Desktop Software then it's not even worth the trouble.

I have to have some way to back the stuff on my phone up to my laptop, and I've yet to see anyone that's happy with Link for this purpose. A larger phone with smaller screen is a nonstarter as well. If/when BB (or Verizon) stop supporting OS7 all together, I'm going to have to move to iPhone, and I'm dreading that day.
I have contacts/calendar/email synced with Gmail, have all of my important files on Dropbox, have all of my notes synced with Evernote through the Remember app, photos/camera and videos synced with Box, Microsoft Office files on my OneDrive cloud, and passwords with Enpass (with cloud sync).

Seems like what's missing is texting, speed/average speed, and time of day of arrival (instead BB Maps shows how long before arrival).
I think people are upset over the short notice. It makes no sense to me why they would be upset enough to move to a new platform that doesn't give them BlackBerry Traffic and not try BB10 BlackBerry Maps. There's also Waze on BB10 as well, as Conite pointed out.03-02-15 06:35 PMLike 0 - That's too bad.

- Stick with your device and be happy because it will soon approach EOL
- Move onto BlackBerry 10 and learn to adapt. All of these "business professionals" you think you'd know a thing or two about adapting. How many people work for businesses or sectors in which policies and SOPs change constantly? What do you do? I'm sure it's adapt
- Jump onto another platform and......you got it....adapt to a new OS.
BlackBerry needs to focus on the future of their devices, OS, and business offerings. They need people to move onto BlackBerry 10, and if you choose not to stop blaming the company for moving forward. How do you expect them to carry every single function from legacy devices forward? I'm confident when I say BlackBerry 10 was built from the ground up and no code was brought over from bbos. Yes, BlackBerry 10 is not perfect but name a phone that is? And if you say your old curve or bold enjoy the perfection as it fades away into past.gfondeur likes this.03-02-15 06:56 PMLike 1 - The integration with the cloud is much improved on BB10. I've never used Link other than the (very) occasional full backup when fooling around with leaks for fun.

Trust me, I have been a power BlackBerry user since the 7100i in 2006. I spend many hours a day on the device. The 9900 was my last BBOS device and I loved it. BUT, compared to bb10, it just seems rather quaint now.
BB10 is an honest to goodness TRUE BlackBerry experience. It is unmistakably NOT iPhone or Android.
Do yourself a favour and make the jump. It might take a bit to change your workflow, but you will ultimately find it vastly superior.

Posted via CB1003-02-15 08:59 PMLike 0 - How can anyone with a 3+ year old device say they are big supporters of BlackBerry? Really? How much money do you spend on BlackBerry products and services? Using a fully paid-for 3 year old device isn't supporting BlackBerry. Now you're just supporting the carrier. I can't stand that argument. "Hey, we're still using our 8330 Curve, we support BlackBerry." No you don't. You did, five years ago when you bought the thing.03-02-15 09:40 PMLike 0

Support is by holding on and not leaving the ecosystem with hope of a device and polished os... After 9 plus years and numerous handsets over the years. It's not our fault the z10, z30, q5 where not what keyboard people want, the q10 without belt was dumb and only the passport and classic were decent devices,... So really what.. 6 months of devices and an os years later still fluttering about with crap like the new calendar... Complicated swipes, stupid stickers in bbm, crappy cameras...03-02-15 10:10 PMLike 0 - How can anyone with a 3+ year old device say they are big supporters of BlackBerry? Really? - I own a BlackBerry Z10, Z30, and Q10, yet my main phone is a Bold 9900. The traffic app is used daily on my 9900, it is one of the best applications I have ever used along with BlackBerry News which has already been shutdown. It was a shame when I realized BB10 offers nothing close to these apps.
If BlackBerry wants to start sacking it's legacy users it better have a worthy upgrade ready for them. Many users of these legacy devices will not upgrade to BB10, instead they will go with Android or iOS. BlackBerry is killing their own legacy fan base by cutting them out too soon. The Classic is not the Bold 9900 replacement many have been waiting for, bring back key legacy apps like BlackBerry News and BlackBerry Traffic or risk loosing your legacy users to the competition. Why do you think so many people are still using a legacy device? It's not because we can't afford a BB10 device, I'm sure many legacy users have owned and tried BB10 already. I know once BlackBerry Traffic is killed off near the end of the month, I will have to start carrying two devices to get things done...a BlackBerry10 device and a Nexus . Eventually ill probably get tired of carrying both and just settle with my Android. For anyone who thinks the 10.3 framework truly combines Android into BlackBerry10, go pick up a current gen android device and compare. The virtual framework is still a joke and many applications don't run out of the box unless you do some modifications like cobalt. Basically If BlackBerry wants to force everyone to upgrade then show some effort and give your loyal fan base what they want, don't just throw on a track pad and call it a legacy replacement. There is a lot more to love about the legacy BlackBerry devices than just the physical hardware. Multitasking and overall flow of BB07 is just beautiful, it truly is a great OS.
Time to say goodbye to my Bold 9900 and BlackBerry in general. Will check back once the Classic 2 is released, hopefully BlackBerry picks up its game by then.
