I've been using BuddyGuard Pro for a while (without complaint). Is there any advantage to Blackberry Protect? As I've already paid for BuddyGuard, that is not a consideration.
Thanks,

BB Protect will back up your contacts, calendar, memos, tasks, browser bookmarks, and/or text messages, BuddyGuard doesn't. In some areas they overlap, others they don't. I have BuddyGuard and will keep it for what it does as it never hurts to have a backup.
Expect most of the other apps to suffer over time due to a native offering that is free...
There may be a question of support down the line if they continue to suffer.
There's definitely some feature overlap, which can make it a bit hard to understand some of the important differences. Without belaboring the details, here's a few of the majors points that differentiate the products:
1) BuddyGuard Pro commands are sent via email and SMS; Protect sends commands from the website. The impact of this is:
- sending commands from a website is more user friendly. Plus for Protect.
- sending commands by SMS (or email) allows you to use any nearby mobile phone to send a command immediately, rather than having to access a website. Plus for BuddyGuard Pro.
2) BuddyGuard Pro supports personal safety features, such as the Panic Alert and Flashlight (this is actually one of the directions that we're looking to expand the product into further).
3) Protect currently doesn't support BES activated BlackBerrys.
4) Protect supports a larger set of data for backup.
5) BuddyGuard Pro provides SIM card protection, both if the card is switched and also if the card is removed altogether.

Negative: VZW (not RIM) won't allow BB Protect when subscribed to the 150mb data plan. See thread under General Discussions if interested. Wrote VZW trying to plead my case. Thanks.
So, which is the best then? I am thinking of using BuddyGuard though I already have 'Whereismyphone' installed.

Hi,
If I understand correctly in reading the options, one should not have both of these features set to on? I'm wondering why not, but if so, which is better to use or are they equally useful?
Thanks :)
