By default the "cellsite lock" is disabled, so an OS update would be required for that, as well as an update to BB Protect. Also, GPS lockon works better on some os versions than others.

I remember on my old 8300s this is how Google Maps used to work is by utilizing cell tower locations.
I understand that it would take some adjustments, but it seems like they would benefit the program enough to be important to include. But what do I know.
Interesting feature set, in the blackberry protect. Good work developers.
gonna try install this tonight
Nice app but could do with some more additions and improvements.
I have set up BB Protect on my handheld (Storm 2 -- 9550) everything works fine, was able to upload a backup file etc. I am able to login to the BB Protect website using my BB ID with no problems, however, whenever I click on any of the functions i.e. view current location, loud ring, display a message, etc. I just get a loading screen with a little wheel going around... nothing ever happens, it never actually loads -- obviously this appears to be a function of my web browser or something going on (I'm using IE9 with Windows 7 if that matters). Judging by my limited knowledge of HTML etc, it appears to be a Java or Javascript -- I've updated my JRE for my browser but that didn't seem to fix the problem either... Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions for what to do to fix it so that I might be able to FINALLY get to use this great app? Any ideas would be sincerely appreciated -- tried contacting BlackberryHelp through Twitter, got no response, I'm out of ideas and am eager to try this out!
BlackBerry Protect works for my Torch, and I'm satisfied. Great download.

BlackBerry Protect comes standard on my 9900 but because I'm set up to the enterprise server every time I reboot my phone I get an error message saying that Protect isn't compatible with a device set up to Enterprise Server.
I haven't been able to delete this app when going through the application list. Is there anyway to prevent that error message from popping up every time??
Thanks!
I installed the app on my phone but can't see it on the website. I used BB Protect before and was able to see it in the past. But since reinstalling the app, it's gone...
Any ideas? I read through this thread and it looks like some people have a similar problem - they can't see their phone on the website, but I didn't see any solution...
Blackberry Protect will not work on a phone that is on a corperate plan. Corporate plans have their own system.
I have Blackberry Protect installed on a phone that is on a 500 mb/month plan, and it is working well. I also have it on some plans that are of much larger data capacity. My phones are with BELL.
I tested this software and tried it on all the functions except for the wipe of the phone. It worked very well. The location capability is impressive. The drawback is if the thief turns off the phone or removes the battery. But, once a lock and wipe is sent, as soon as the phone is powered up and finds the mobile service it will get wiped. Using a strong password on the phone is a big plus. The Blackberry will wipe and lockup after the set amount of attempts (10 maximum) have been tried. After this, the phone is a paperweight at best!
