Does it work or not yet? After reading 40+ pages on the other thread I got tired of reading. I hosed my BBM with the upgrade so I had to up upgrad to os 4.5.077 to get my old 4.5 bbm back.
Has anyone gotten the bbm 5.0 working on a verizon curve yet?

I have read that you have to use a hybrid OS in order for it to run properly or even okay.

i used the .160 for updating my friends phone. they have the crackly squeal which is a know issue. my buddys sprint curve running .131 installed bbm5.0 no problem. i may downgrade them to that instead of the hybrid.

it doesnt work with 4.5.077, it will hose your BBM. all verizon users must update to a higher OS, either .131 or the .160/.131 hybrid

I have a Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8330 running OS v4.5.0.160 and the leaked BBM v5.0 is running just fine for me. I had to install it via the Desktop Manager [and I have DM Version 5.0.0.11]. Most every place (and there is a lot now) you can download the new leaked BBM v5.0 it says you must be running at least OS v4.5.0.131 and some just say you must have OS v4.5.0.1xx +

So to answer the original question [again lol], yes, BBM v5.0 will work on a Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8330 but you DO have to update your OS if you're still running OS v4.5.0.077

version 4.5.160 is known to be buggy on the verizon branded phones, producing a loud squeal while on a phone call. my friends phone is doing it. im gonna downgrade her to .131 tomorrow.

You don't have to have the hybrid.
It will work on OS 4.5.0.131

I'm running that version now, and I had BBM 5.0
I just recently took BBM 5.0 off becuase I got tired of the crop and save feature.

upgrade to 4.5.131 and then reinstall BBM 5.0. back up your phone first, upgrade properly by following the normal upgrading procedure, problem solved.

Back up your phone and follow the directions posted here : http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/new...nguage-236552/

Before you start, take a look at the screen shots and directions listed here: http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101...ting-system-os

Just be sure you study up before you get started. It is a simple process, but one wrong move and you could end up bricking your phone. I would read through the threads in the links I provided and see what sort of problems people ran into while upgrading. Hopefully, that can prevent any disaster.

    Good Luck.
