So i downloaded BBM 5.0 with the 83xx OTA link my buddy sent me. The download went smooth and then I didn't have BBM anymore once the phone rebooted after the install (and yes, I even did a battery pull lol). I checked and I had 4.5.0.77 OS on my phone. I got the link to download the 4.5.0.131 OS but I'm still hesitant to download BBM 5.0 after loosing my BBM completely and having to re-add all my contacts.
Does anyone have OS 4.5.0.131 and tried to install it but it still didn't work?
I upgraded mine to .131 because I had .77. I still had my regular BBM there and all my contacts. When I downloaded the BBM 5.0, I didn't lose my contacts either. Maybe it's just a luck of the draw?

I believe it's just a matter of being at v.131 or higher when installing the new BBM. If so, your contacts should all remain. Mine were just lost because I deleted the program itself.
i also scanned to see how it would work out... well.... it works!
Don't you love BBM 5.0 even with all the 'bugs' of not resizing pics etc... but heh you're welcome to keep me, all I want is friends to chat to when bored, doesn't sound good, and I don't get bored easily

I have installed the latest version from Rogers Wireless which states:
Package Version: 4.5.0.139
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.102
Software Platform: 2.7.0.85
So if I have package version 139 is that what I should be looking at and I'm good to go then?

8120 OS latest is .161 or .162 package versions, you might want to upgrade... oops I meant 254/255
YAY! So I upgraded to .131 thanks to the link earlier in the thread and downloaded BBM 5.0 and everything worked great! No spotty message service or any problems so far. I love all the nice features and the whack load of smileys

I would rather stick with the official Rogers release of which I have the latest version. Can anyone answer my question... I have the 139 package version (apps 102), is that new enough?
Ok I downloaded the new BBM with no problem onto my 8120 and love it so I thought I would share the love witha friend of mine. Now when she downloaded it it appears under her apps as being on her phone however the ico has disappeared any ideas on how to get that back.. so right now she can not access BBM becasue there is no icon on her phone. She did a battery pull, changed theme and looked at the desktop with "show all" and it was not hidding there. ANy help please. I feel horrid that it happened following my directions.
sounds like your gonna have to upgrade to.131 or higher
I am using BBM 5.0 on my Tour and I am curious with how one goes about requesting the location of another? I've been able to send my location to others, but I am unable to find out how to request a Contact's location....
I found in the BBM 5.0 Help menu under "Availability" where one can receive a notification when a contact becomes available by setting an alert, however that option is not available on the menu screen, when I select a contact....
Another one is when you are on the phone, you can reflect that in your status via "Allow On the Phone Presence Status", but again I am not getting that option in the menu per the help instructions.
I am wondering if this 5.0 is not chock full of all the features, which might be released later - any thoughts????
I asked this in another thread, but figure the more feelers I get out there the better chance I have of getting this resolved...
Is anyone else having issues sending messages to people w/o BBM 5.0? The only people I can recieve messages from or get messages from me are my brother and sister in law who also have it.
