Right then, someone has said they're gonna crash my phone.

Immediately after, I've started to get tons and tons of BBM adds.

I've tried to go into the firewall settings and block PIN requests, but they simply continue to come through.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

PIN Message blocking is different from BBM.

The Firewall does not block BBM. You will just need to decline/reject the BBM requests as they come in.
