Step by step guide for those who never tried to update to a hybrid OS like me!


1.Delete all previous installed OS.
2.Uninstall BB desktop software.
3.Go to regedit.exe and delete Research in motion registery entry.
4.Re-install desktop software.
5.Installed Base OS.
6.Install berrylicious in the same folder of loader files as described in first post.
7.Delete vendor.xml. make sure its deleted from your recycle bin aswell.
8.Restart PC.
9.Click loader.exe
10.Peace

did you rename the sfi... thats can be the problem..... read the instruccions in the first page....

someone try this on a 9360???

sorry this hybrid was made for 9300, 9700, 9780, 96xx and 9800 running OS 6.

it has Mix Java of: 6.0.0.4xx/.5xx/.6xx/.706/6.1.0.xx/7.0.0.xxx/7.1.0.58/.74/.150. so it wont work on a os 7 phone as the base is mainly os 6 cods and sfis.

you may try and search if anyones made a hybrid for the 9360 as im not sure if they have. they have made it for the 9900 so far.

you may try and ask a few of the hybrid creators if they can create one or ask for advice to try and make one yourself.

3. Wipe the entire base OS located in, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800Asia_v6.0.0.706_P6.6.0.246 (note, only delete what's INSIDE the folder)

so after you install the the base os delete everything in that particular folder (eg: \9800Asia_v6.0.0.706_P6.6.0.246). once you have done so run berrylicious, select the device your using thru the prompts, once you get to the folder part re-direct it to the folder that you have deleted all the files in (eg: \9800Asia_v6.0.0.706_P6.6.0.246). once the installation is done make sure you delete the vendor.xml file and run the loader. if it does not work restart your pc and try again first. if that does not work uninstall berrylicious and base OS and run a registry cleaner (eg: ccleaner). then start again.

it has worked for me straight away most of the time but it has its moments where it doesnt want to run in which i do that and works fine.

i usually use ccleaner to clean my registry after i uninstal. helps alot.

what phone are u using? any device running os 6 with 256mb will always have memory leak. just be sure to close any unwanted apps, remove apps you dont use at all. ive heard running the browser every now and then does increase the loss of memory. that isnt just because of the browsing history. as long as its to a minimum and not to excessive you will be fine.

my nephew only uses his phone for bbm and calls and gets barely any memory leak. only needs to do a battery pull every week or so.

when i start using my bold 9700/pearl 9100 with the way i use it i lose about 10-15mb max after using it over a day. im a medium to heavy user. so isnt too bad.

i schedule it for a reboot 30 mins after i wake up during the weekdays so its always fresh.

when the os 6 came out for the 256mb devices it was the worst. same when os 5 came out for the bold 9000. but in time with more newer updates and hybrids it will be at a minimum.

make sure you reboot your phone every 4-6 hours after first installing the hybrid. give a day or 2 at most for it to settle. after that then monitor it to see how you go. trying different sfi's may help, just depends on your coverage, carrier and how it reacts to those settings.

it could be berryweather and/or a battery monitoring app (eg: meterberry).

no probs. just monitor it and see how you go. with this hybrid memory leak should be at a minimum compared to using official/leaks. just do a battery pull every few days and you should be fine.

Yes because its based on the testers best choice for sfi for each phone. 9780 was .706. Its up to the user if they want to change based on their own choice, hence why they need to rename if they want to use a different version.

9300 was .668 version of sfi from memory I think.

The memory leaks aren't that big of a deal imo... After the memory gets 'leaked' it doesn't leak any further (atleast for me) and I have enough left to get me through anything. I always do a soft reset though, once at night and once in the morning, keeps things fresh.

yea as long as it doesnt hit you bad that your memory is so low and it hasnt even been a day yet. those were the earlier releases. least now its reduced to a minimum.

always good to do a battery pull every now and then. specially when your not using it the most.

Alright guys, I have found a cool trick to free up memory for all you peeps on os6 out there

1.First, go and find an engineering screen calculator, Heres one eScreen Keygen

2. Access your bb help screen by either pressing ALT+EACE or ALT+LSHIFT+H

3. Enter the information required on the engineering screen calculator

4. Enter code it generates at the bottom into your BB.

5. You will be presented with a list, go down to JVM Engineering Screens

6. Then go down to RAM Usage

7. Click the BB menu key (left of trackpad) and select Thorough GC

8. Exit the application and enjoy your memory

For 9700 we use 668 sfi, as its smaller, grab it from the base.

The .706 SFI file is approximately 4 MB bigger than the .668 one but I prefer the .706 version, I'm running it right now and it's amazing.

I haven't tried .706 yet and was planning on giving it a test drive with this hybrid.

Another thing I was wondering about; why do you guys recommend backing up the device with radios off? What's the advantage?

I don't think there's any advantage, just procedure. I have noticed that if you don't wipe your device and have the apploader backup and restore data ticked then it automatically turns radio off, restores and the re-enables. If you restore data via desktop manager it doesn't touch the radio, so I like to think it's up to you, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I got it all setup. With the 706 sfi, NL resource files and Social Feeds. Those should install along just fine, if I didn't screw up the copy paste...
