    658 should work

And high discharge rate is expected after a pull.

Again don't forget the single line of code.
Will try the 658 sfi then thanx

Single line of code ?? When I replace my sfi , I am not changing the platform file ?? Or am I missing something here

If you have that handy elsewhere that should be fine. No need for alx edit.

just wondering if signal also need time to settle down after initial update, just like ADR and temp?

because in RC7B, I got good signal strength in weak area, but now less.

Weird. It is set by the carrier.

Are you sure it wasn't 7.0 OS that allowed you to go 2G?

And is it a branded handset?

    Branded - NO
And no it was on 7.1 that I was still able to go back to 2G , 7.1.714 was the first version this didnt allow me to go 2G no more .... May it be because we have poor 3G coverage that my batery discharge rate would be this high compared to other people on 3G ??

I am locked on 3G and no, mine not that high, but you need to give it time to settle, and work with the best radio for your carrier.

I have done a lot of hybrids and have previously run the BL hybrids, but the information about the platform alx is not clear. Where do you find the platform alx to open in notepad. I downloaded the platform link in this thread and pasted into my JAVA folder (649 base) and thought I had done everything properly. It went through the loading process but then on the last steps on app loader I got an app error and was stuck there. Finally had to reload 580 (Verizon official) and restore from back up. Is there a clearer step by step instruction on where to find the platform alx and open with notepad.

    Thank you.

The platform alx is where you see all other alx before you drill down to your java folder.

You would have seen CDMA, Java and a bunch of alx.

    Please remove all OS,

Delete all the OS in shared folder
Remove the installer in the add remove programs.

    Reboot PC

Re install 649 os (this is the latest from China mobile I believe) should be a sticky in the 9900/9930 section

Make sure you are the administrator of your pc to be able to edit the alx.

    The platform.alx is in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900AllLang_v7.1.0.746_P5.1.0.546" if you are using .746 for your OS base, not in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900AllLang_v7.1.0.746_P5.1.0.546\Java" folder

Ya! That works! But what can be the possible reason for this random change in the browser?

Sometimes it can happen when we reinstall OS's so many times in a short time or injecting cods to our phone, wiping is the only way to help DM to remove junks from our phone thoroughly.

Installed base/sfi 746 - Rogers released 746 as official so I figure the SFI should "like" my 9900.
