Hi again. If I understand right I have to paste the files from the first link to the java folder. After that I can install the OS from the Loader.exe. I don't use the Desktop manager. I am using 7.1.0.258. Is this ok because I have read somewhere that I need OS .5xx or higher.
    Thanks

Wow! 7.1.0.258 is a while ago, get ready for a big difference

you will be better to get a much later os that you have, .523 .569 the latest leak for the sfi, just whatever one you prefer.

For the 9900 we have stayed with the .523 sfi for most people.

Alpha 2 changes, I am not the best person to ask for that one, one i do know about is we are trying a different dc control file.

Cool, RC5A was smooth as silk and fast so power management improvements would be great.

7.1.0.258 for is a really good one for my Curve 9360. It is also the last one which runs with the Gold Battery. I have tried newer versions but it is difficult to say that they are much better than my version.
I assume that pasting the files to the java folder is what I have to do?!?!
    Thanks!

Copy and replace into the Java folder of any OS above .523 and don't forget to remove the Vendor files.

The only worry I would have is that certain files dont like older OS`s and just wont work.

If you arent going to install over .523 upward I would wait till Zoc is back online and he will answer the question about if it will work.

I've never installed a hybrid OS before and have a few questions before I really screw up my phone.

    I have a 9900 running 7.1.0.569

    I've already downloaded BL7.1.zip & KHBLv2.rar.

Do I copy the contents of the .zip folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900M_v7.1.0.569_P5.1.0.415?

What do I do with the KHBLv2.rar?

After I copy the .zip folder contents can I run BB BOSS and shrink it?

Once that's all done do I just run loader.exe?

    TIA

In the V2 package, extract it and its just the java files. Copy those files into the OS's java folder that you're using as a base. Wipe device, delete vedor files, shrink [if you want to] then load 'er up!

The official recommendation is use anything highe than 7.1.0.402 for this OS, It will not like anything below.

If your worry is about the battery then go back to the OEM one as you shouldnt need the Gold one with the Hybrid

Not entirely sure why you are trying v2 as the first hybrid but if you want a newer version it was posted this morning a couple of pages back :

First of all you need a standard Base OS installed, either .523 or .569. A fresh install is recommended.

As you are on the 9900 RC3 or RC5 will probably be the easiest for you to install as both re full OS's for the 9900 and are I think by consencus the best of the bunch.

    Download the hybrid and unzip.

Use whichever .sfi works best for you from the .523 or .569 Standard OS

The Hybrid Java is pre shrunk by Zocster. If you are happy with this then delete the Java files from the base OS and replace with those from the Hybrid.

If you want to do your own shrink then copy and paste the Hybrid Java files over the base OS Java files.

Do the same with the .alx file as you did with the Java, either replace or paste over base.

Shrink to your taste and load it up.

Don't forget to delete the Vendor files as usual.
