No, it shows error 205...I fudged up with MaxMem deleting something I shouldn't have lol I just rampaged through it lol. Now if DM can't find my device I can restore from the backup I have via Protect, am I right about that, or is it wishful thinking?

Once you load the OS ! Protect will have the option of picking up from last backup, so you are good to go there !

I can restore from last back up from protect, right?
I'll grab the copy of RC6B2 for sh!ts and giggles and perhaps load that aswell
Sharma, For error 205 you can try Apploader to install RC7A1 .714, I think Apploader can read your device but not the DM.

I think so, also. Plug without battery and when the apploader "picks" the PIN of your phone press next quickly.
Later you can get your backup from dm or protect

Did you catch the loader as soon as your phone started to boot though? I restores the OS at ARM level rather than JVM (java)
only.
I find catching it early enough gives the best load of an OS.
Use loader.exe for this. not DM
Also if you need a hand to load i can help out remotely if you want. PM me.

So....vodafone UK has an official .714, not sure if that means anything to our hybrid gods here

BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
Pretty much all networks have released 714 today.
In the uk voda, o2, orange and tmob all pushed it out.
Lots of other around the world did also.

Re: BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
Hello
I been on 9900M_658_BL_RC6Beta1_Full with 9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel1909_PL5.1.0.485_A7.1.0.658_Tele fonica for a while now. This is the best combo for me and I tried .714 and all the others.
But do you guys think it will be worth switching to 9900M_658_BL_RC6Beta instead?
.658 is by far the best OS for me, amazing battery and signal.

Re: BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
RC6 beta 2 did something very weird today. Of course still not settled in yet (1 day in) but for the first time in a very long time I experienced very rapid battery drain. Max discharge/hr according to tinymeter was 48.4%. I haven't seen that fast battery drain for an extremely long time but the dev analyser chart shows a decline from 60% to 20% in 2 hours and it dropped off the map after that (not picked up by dev analyzer but picked up by Battery Saver) as the battery level dropped almost instantly was at 1% before I swapped batteries.
For a couple hours during that sharp decline, I was on light BBM use and almost constant gtalk use. ADR (dev analyser) 7.14%. It's high for me, even after one day but seemed to be very much skewed by gtalk. The funny thing is that I don't see gtalk in the list of modules with highest CPU time...
net_rim_bb_fileindexservice (3.58%)
vvm_bb_9900_rogers_std_prod_os7 (3.19%) << visual voice mail - not typically this high but always in list of top 5
net_rim_services_impl (1.23%) << not used to seeing this
net_rim_bb_qm_peer (1.08%)
In addition to the gtalk use, the only different thing from my usual was that I'm running Battery Saver (free version - for the notification battery level icon). It actually did pick up the drop to 1% by the way, with the decline from 15% to 1% being almost instantaneous. All the app has though besides the battery indicator is voice alerts on battery levels (which I disable) and a battery charging screen. I'm also trying Tiny Meter to see what it shows (results noted above).
I use to run MeterBerry before Dev Analyser came out from RIM. I liked MeterBerry's display but was questioning MeterBerry's results in comparison to dev analyser and assumed that it was a bulkier app so I stopped running it.
I tend to like the 658 base and actually didn't have my unique "echo" issue on about half of the calls today.

Re: BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
what do you mean by installing OS at ARM level? is it something dratically different than what we do thru app loader.

Re: BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
Maxx71,
What base are you using with RC6B2? 7.1.0.658? I'm curious but it seems my best signal performance has been using a BL hybrid that's compatible with .658 sfi.

Re: BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices
Holy smokes!! Today was totally not my day, I think god had it out for me lol. My phone bricked for a while as I was at work and had no way to fix it til my IT guy gave me admin rights to run certain programs. Got him to do that then I loaded the hybrid, shrunk and forgot to add Password Keeper on loader....re loading RC7A1 right now again for the 3rd time this week, 2nd time TODAY lol...I'm beat. Thanks to EVERYONE for the help and Ian for coming through via PM, I appreciate all the help while I was down and out lol, I'd do the same, I love this community!

Hi Sheeb,
I am using 7.1.0.658 base and sfi with RC6b2. I too somehow get the best results out of the .658sfi.

Hi Sheldon,
I had an issue similar to the one you had but that was way back in the RC4 days ( seems like a decade ago, lol). I had battery booster app at that time which had been the main culprit.
Since then i have removed all battery saving apps ( come to think of it, an app to save battery which runs in the background) didn't make sense to me and i have had no battery issues since then.
I presently have the Advanced OS & LED and it gives me the temp indicator/battery indicator on the home screeen apart from screen grabber, Flashlight and many more features in one app and it requires only around 335 kb of space. I am presently on RC6b2 with .658 base and sfi and it all compiles well for me and the battery life after 24 hours of medium usage was around 57% left, which is the best ADR i have seen on my device.

Excellent!
I've been away for a while and it looks like I've missed a few releases, currently on rc4 with .523 sfi which has been brilliant (coming from stock 7.1)
I saw your post re 714 being pushed through the uk, and read a few things about it being the best stock os so far.
Only issues I'm currently having I'm convinced are provider related not build, every so often bb internet (not email) simply stops and needs a battery pull, about once a week - only started happening 2 weeks ago - around the time my network (orange uk) started rebranding to EE, I used to see phone switch between orange and tmobile where signal was low on one it would be good on the other.
I may be wrong and it could be os related - when I have time ill try a newer 714 based.
Is there anyway recommended and tested way to backup and restore my apps or am I best to go clean ? I recall bb swiss army knife having a tool and desktop manager.
Regards
Damian

Welcome Back !
I do normally back up my third party apps with BBSAK and do a back up with DM as well. BBSAK also wipes my device clean until 507 error ( which means no OS on the device). It also launches the app loader.
For shrinking of OS i use BBHTools, though BBHtools also wipes device.
While doing a full wipe or clean install, it is advised that we fresh reinstall all third party apps to avoid the 'uncaught exception' error caused by some of the apps.
