Hi. I have tried to just copy over the files in the said folder, but it never picks up the O.S. But if I copy the files/folder 'into' the Java folder, then I can install the O.S. Am I going about it the wrong way, and am I actually getting to use the hybrid files needed to run "faster", and "better" ?

Open the zip file for the RC and open the Java file. Copy all the files in the folder.

Open up the Java folder for the base OS you have installed on your PC and paste, overwriting the RC files into the base OS Java.

Copy the .alx files from the RC and paste, overwriting over the .alx files in the base OS folder.

You have then created the Hybrid OS to load.

with RC 20 working with various devices are you guys still going to try to improve RC 20 for non 1098 SFI, I am running 9930 with RC 20 browser seems to be a little slower loading ... wondring if the BL team will work to improve the build for devices that don't have the 1098 radio file

we won't release RC20 non 1098 sfi since RC20 works with multiple SFIs, please do batt pulls for the first 48 hours, and always do a clean install (wipe your phone before you load a new OS)

Verizon pushed out 7.1.0.1066 for the 9930 maybe yesterday or the day before. It doesn't look like an installer is available to download yet. I installed it directly from the phone and it seems smooth. Will install RC20 over it once a 1066 installer is available.

yes, 1xxx sfis are compatible with RC20, except 9720's due to a different system in java cods for the 9720 new features (stand buy and multi color).

Nice, let me try see if my torch will like RC20 with base 861 although I do have the .1033 OS. Can one play about with the SFI's though as that is my concern. I tried to go back to rock solid cool .714 SFI but no luck. So i'm hoping the 912 SFI with 816 base and RC20 is the better option to go about. Simply coz 1033 SFI does not seem to be any better. 714 sfi would have been the best, 816 sfi a close second. This is for 9810 torch

there are 3 kind of Sfis for the OS .1033 that you can try, usually I make a comparison between the jAllLang (large SFI) and the MultiLang (small SFI) to know which one works better with my carrier, and most of the time MultiLang works better than the jAllLang for my carrier.

jAllLang (large SFI) Vodafone Uk: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...16029190264B65

AllLang (Medium SFI) Vodafone SFR: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...CEA051F32945A2

MultiLang (small SFI) Vodafone Spain: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...CEA051F32945A2

Ah I see. I meant using older SFI's like .861 SFI or .912 SFI or even the ancient old .714 SFI. I have tried the allLang Large SFI vodafone UK one and either i was impatient or something for my phone got very hot that I reloaded a different mix. Tried older SFI;s but i ended up with 502 reset error or something like that. About to try the RC20 hybrid now but will it work with old .861 base and 912 sfi as those two play well together then if that fails i'll use .1033 base with 912 SFI. Trial & Error

1033 sfis are little bit warmer than 1047, 1047 sfi is similar to 1098 sfi in temp. wise.

i had this instance when i saw my temp shoot up to 57degrees and fearing for my phone's safety i immediately removed the battery, lack of signal does not help either as my phone now has to work twice as hard to not only get but maintain a signal. .714 and .861 are the only SFI's that I remember being cool. Done reloading. 861 Base with 912 SFI and RC20 working well together so far.

Can anyone tell me what a battery pull does to a hybrid os just after the installation & is it safe to update apps from sites or from app world etc. ?
    11-14-13 12:38 PM
  25. Phly_kid's Avatar
Battery pulls helps the hybrid settle down. So whereas initially you may see the battery juice being sipped quite fast its the OS settling, files getting indexed and therefore battery drain will be higher but as you do battery pulls and the OS settles down then the phone settles to a state where the battery drain is as minimal as your usage gets. That's when you hear people stating that from a single charge battery lasts the entire day or more, browser is super fast and responsive, network and GPS lock is almost instantaneous etc.
