.746 does run OK with the .714 .sfi, so if the high temparature is an issue for you give that combo a try.
I'll wager that will be RC8 mix

I couldn't wait to try a hybrid OS so I downgraded to .714 and used RC7B1.

It works very well but Google Maps doesn't seem to be able to get GPS lock. GPS is turned on. I know Google Maps isn't the best but it's better than nothing. On my .714 and .746 non-hybrid OS's Goggle Maps didn't have any problems getting GPS lock.

    Any solution to this?

I have the same hiccup, it takes time to lock initially, after that it is smooth sailing.

hi i just upgraded to rc7 b1 and dakota alx files over .714 and my phones working fine on my bold 9900, however my blackberry desktop software is saying this:
BerryLicio.us Ultimate hybrid for most OS 7.1 devices-desktop.png

i was wondering whats up? if i downgrade or whatever its asking to do what will change, why does it need to downgrade?

Click on the information button for "phone". You will see a list of modules and some of them will be higher version. The same thing happened to me when I installed the app world beta. There were several bbid modules that got upgraded, which DM was trying to downgrade for some reason. It's a "feature" of DM that IMHO needs to be fixed. There should be a mechanism for the user to tell DM to ignore such "recommendations".

That is because some of the modules are older than 714 and the desktop manager think there is a newer os available. Just ignore it untill we get RC8 tested.

Then there will be a new one to install.

Audio, if you have waited a day or so I would have told you that the bugger of a vendor.xml that hides is in:

    C:\Users\ianf\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    Where ianf is your profile.

Also for the person wanting install instruction there a numerous posts within this thread if you read through it that
tell you the process of install.

Please follow and enjoy, we welcome new users.

Also RC8 will be letting the handset users that dont have 746 released use the new version of maps and coloure LED`s as well

so I think the other BL users have been nice enough to hold the fort for the BL Team.
Sator or Zoc are usually about also.

Can someone here help me please.....how do I solve the media detection problem in my 9900?
    10-27-12 02:56 PM
  12. ifraser's Avatar
What media detection issue is that?

What OS are you using and what exactly is your phone showing?

And have you ran a repair on your memory card in case that is all it is?

If you are using a hybrid then you may have the wrong level of media modules on your phone. try the ones from 658.

I'm getting "Media Card is not presently inserted in the device" and I was getting in on the software it came with and I upgraded .746 and still having the same problem. When trying to format media card in only getting Built-in Media option.....

  14. ifraser's Avatar
ok, that sounds like your card or reader is either faulty or needing formatted.

Have you tried a 2nd card just in case?

Same card works in my 9700....I used 2 cards and none of them works in 9900.....

Ok, I believe the only way around that issue is to format them on your 9900, I have heard of a few people
    having the same issue.

Although there is also the possibility of the reader in your 9900 being faulty, I would try to copy all the data from one of the
older cards and format it on your 9900.

  17. Soulja Boy's Avatar
9900 is not giving me the option to format media card only built in media......
    10-27-12 03:34 PM
  18. ifraser's Avatar
I would then get a new card and try that, if that doesnt pick up then the reader on the 9900 would be faulty I am afraid.

Hi guys, I've got a used 9900. Without even trying the official OS, I loaded .714 (was a leak back then) and BL 7 RC 1. It has been settled and I've been using for a week and noticed the battery life can only last 24 hours at most. I use it for whatsapp, email, FB, tweeter and some light web browsing. Is this common to only last 24 hours?

Anyone manage to last longer than that?

And now, sitting with .714 large sfi and .746 sfi ..... waiting to drop them off into NEW RC-8 ...

swapping out 746 sfi with 714 Large sfi over Base OS 746 dropped temp by 10 deg C.

    And improved ADR too ...
