How do i know if my OS has settled?
U will get an email ...

There are no right or wrong times for it to settle,

I have seen OS`s settle within hours but you dont tend to see the full benifit for at least a day of so with improved performance and battery life,

let is settle for a couple of days to be sure.

@audio - dont confuse the other users no email will appear so please dont go waiting for one.

pun indeed with humor ...

No wonder you are getting that kind of ADR, i have not seen less than -70dbm and we are with the same carrier

What is your location in India ?
Please read this Thread to understand the amount of personal involvement I had to put in with my Network guys at Vodafone.

And thereafter, again very recently as per my post # 4246 on this Thread.

In the end - it paid up for me using 3G.

Don't really get it why you seem to be having that kind of ADR
You are on .658sfi or .714 ?
Me neither.

Loaded twice first with .658 and second with .714

It sems to be triggered by opening App World for some reason.

That will be shrunk out of next load as don't need it now that i've got Sultan Beta link to AOS and that's the only app I use.

App world is very reliant now on BBM and BBID, I would possible try to install BBM reboot and leave for a day or so to see if you get better results.

If not then you can remove it again.
Thanks Ian

Will give it a try, I had a feeling that the missing interface between App World and BBM might be the problem, although I have previously shrunk out BBM with no issues. Maybe an updated version ?

@ audio_engr,

Must say A very informative thread. I am not that technically equipped to undersatnd all that but from whatever i gathered from there, i feel it's time to invite the Voda network team for a little chit chat and get them to work

yes, latest bbm version is 6.2.0.56 and the one with RC7 is .50, that maybe the reason.
Would suggest to update then not use and shrink with the newer version next time.

Wow, here on Rogers the best I have ever had is -77dBm on 3G HSPA and that is standing next to their main switch talking to one of the engineers.

Have now installed BBM as per Ian's advice, ironically via App World !!!

Battery pull done and charging.

Let's see how we do. Will let you know.

EDIT

App management let me delete BBM and APP World so as I don't use either both are now gone.

Nope the BBM version is .56 but the version number in the ALX still states .50. That is the reason for the version confusion in the OS.

Probably, not sure about that but i was prompted to update in appworld and i did update !

Can I mention that this is because the version included with .714 must be .50,

You require to make sure you either restore your apps or login to app world if you can to update any of the apps to their current versions.

I will pick .658 always cause it runs cooler and latching better to my network and wifi, rest i think is the same as compared to .714

Used .658 with RC6 and had low temp and good signal.

Using .714 on RC7 and getting equally good result signal and temp wise.

We have tested RC7A1 with both sfi`s so it is entirely down to which one
gives you the better performance on your carriers network.

Out of foolish curiosity, does the .658 or the .714sfi work with AT&T special ?

Any sfi will work but just not on the ATT network. you could try the mix
but there are still older cods in the ATT mix that 714 has improved on.

@Ian, why i asked was because i still feel the browser speeds and the overall AT&T special was very good so was wondering if one could try that mix with another sfi.

Since AT&T has older cods, can i try it with .523sfi ? Sorry for this question but my curiosity is just getting the better of me.

Despite my issues with RC7 I feel that it is faster and smoother than the Special Edition.

I agree but this install was for a friend of mine who liked the overall performance when i used AT&T. The only hinderance was the device running hotter so just wanted an opinion or else we always have the safer option !
