If you are on 9900 I would wait for RC3 as it is a FULL OS for that model.
Come on...I have to wait 12 hrs??? You know how hard that is for a techie

No working URLs out there where I can find RC3?

Kidding by the way...this is one of the most responsive threads I've come across.

not 12 hours: 12 mins lol all down to the upload speed at the mirror

    RC3 download: RC3-9900M_v7.1.0.523_P5.1.0.393.zip

we try to be as quick as we can and with some of the team being on either side of the world we are able to monitor pretty much all day.

Just copy it from an installed OS and save it somewhere on your PC to use when required, simples !!!

Isn't RC3 with .523 sfi? why not just use that from the UMTS folder?

Don't get me wrong, 649sfi idles beautiful. But when you start using it, it gets real hot.

Voda here being dual band where predominantly in the main centres are 2100 and extended 3G bands are 900, 649 just don't play nice in that range.

for the smoothness, it similar to RC3, haven't got the chance to test the download (poor quality signal here, makes the browser error, can't even login to app world).

i had tried running on 3G, do some browsing, it gets me 13c (get bit warm).

dunno why, with the temp, sometimes when i do pull bat, the temp will start at 0.0C, but other time it can start at 10C or more. (same thing happens with all previous os).

locking signal quite good, similar 50 569. one time i can get -45dBm. memory leak also similar to 569. i'll try running it on 3G for 1 day to see how it works (and how hot it will be, regarding the poor quality signal here).

As others report, hot (27~31), wi-fi good, signal good.
Fast... for the moment a good adr. Everything stable.

    Temp is odd.

Phone does not physically feel as hot as temp is saying it should .....

So should I copy these files over the .569 files or would you recommend a previous build?

RC3 and RC4 are very similar in speed although the radio at the moment is undecided.

For the latest and greatest RC4 but it is still in the testing phase.

RC3 is smooth and with the 7.1.0.523 sfi file it worked really well.

If you are keen you could try both, just use RC3 for a couple of days, then reload with RC4
I will try RC3 tomorrow. But should I try the full RC3 OS or java only? I'm on 9900.

    Thanks again, ifraser

    Over .569

You may want to consider using .523 .sfi from RC3 rather than .569 one

Personal preference, .523 runs cooler and many find has better signal.

As per Ian posting a bit earlier today, BZone is down for maintenance, should be back up and running before long.

Not just you that it doesn't like !!!

Just grad the one I uploaded. Extract somewhere else and take the java directory from it.

As for RC4 we are still having a play with it. I haven't had the best experience with the radio today but waiting before rolling the sfi back to 523 still.

    Ian

Tomorrow I have got a fair bit of travelling to do so will have varying signals etc to deal with and will also be on bluetooth for the hands free.

It's a regular journey so I know roughly what to expect from previous installs.

Will let you know how I find .649 radio performs.

My journey is over to the East coast from South Yorks and the signal is quite spotty so it should give the radio a good workout.

Just over 24 hours in, did the post app battery pull and extra one after reinstalled the ring tones Zocs had shrunk out by mistake, the pre going to bed and full charge one and one of the two day one and day two pulls as per Zocs recommended shcedule.

Looking good so far, 0.7 adr since off charge at 2:00 pm. Few texts and a couple of calls and e.mails almost 3 hours in on wifi and 3G. Temp steady at 25c. Memory loss -0.2mb after 7 hours since last battery pull.

well its been almost 24 hours on RC4 with .523 sfi, 2 battery pulls last night, charged over night and 3 battery pulls today. One battery pull at 07:00am, one at 9:00am - unbeknown to me at the time, Virgin UK were having problems!
Everything runs smoothly, browsing is fast; no problems evident. Definitely running cooler with the .523 sfi. Battery ADR settling down and mem loss minimal.
Today have been browsing a lot, BBM's, Facebook, twitter. foursquare and 3 calls, around 2 minutes each
Getting 4 - 5 bars 3G in and out of the house, WiFi used when in the house.
Files attached are from following installation of RC4 with .523 sfi for Battery, memory and temp

    Your results look wonderful.

So, whats your base? You're using RC4Alpha. And .523 sfi.

Could you be so kind as to give me a small brief how to go abt this ?

    TIA !!

P.S. What are you using to capture those Meterberry screens ? Zocs suggested Capture Nux but I dont find it on AppWorld.
