The alx files are optional, you just download the required file and extract into the

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900M_v7.1.0.569_P5.1.0.415

folder over the files currently in it.

But I do not need to and any to do a basic install? would you recommend doing anything with the alx, and why would someone need to add a file here and there (sorry for all the questions, but this is so new to this old bb user.)

Not a problem, the alx files have been modified so they dont load extra java file that arent required to your phone.

You can get the full functionality of the Hybrid, and great battery life, using the standard alx files if you wish.

But for the full BL Ultimate experience I would suggest using the modified files, then you know they have been tested.

Ok. I dropped the .alx's into :\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900M_v7.1.0.569_P5.1.0.415 and did copy and replace.

Going to back up and fire this baby up!

App loader is throwing a warning:

"The system applications currently installed on the device are newer than those available from this version of the Blackberry desktop software" with a choice to leave unchanged or replace.

    Recommendations?

And I am using apploaded, not DM.

Keep going, the hybrid uses older modules as well. Just remember, latest doesn't mean greatest. Lol.

Ifraser, do you recommend Jcommander or BBSAK to wipe?

    Or does it matter?

    1. download os
    2. install os
    3. copy and paste the java mix over the installed os
    4. shrink
    5. install

    that sound about right?

Battery pulls do help but i only do one after app restore, then one an hour or so after I restore data.

It should settle fairly quickly but if you use BBM give it an hour or so to resync with your BIS service.
