Is there a hybrid out there that has mobile hotspot working on AT&T? Works on .267 but the newer OS versions block it without paying for an extra a data plan. Thanks!

Unfortunately those are controlled by the radio/sfi, so this will give you mic issue and no free hotspot.

Hi all, as promised I am starting a new thread, this will be updated as questions come.

First of all you will need to install at least 7.1.0.523 for your selected devices, some has gone up to 7.1.0.569 which are better.

Then you drop this java mix into the java folder, shrink to your liking and run your loader.exe

    Enjoy.

Also attached alx for 9900 (Dakota), 9860 (Monza), 9810 (Jenings) to avoid duplicate modules being loaded on to phone under app management.

    Hi there,

Do you empty the 569 folder first or just drop the 580 Java in to 569 folder and replace duplicate files?

    thanks

The hybrid is only for the core system, as I don't know what you use, then its best for you to copy and replace.

Only delete what you don't need.

Yes, copy it over the installed OS, then shrink if you wish to remove unwanted files.

As people keep pointing out, your battery life it really dependant on your network,
however the last 2 days I have done 7.30am to 12am and still had 40% left on my battery.I am in the UK and on Orange, using UMA over wireless also most of the day. Using social apps, web and several medium length calls.

This may be a silly question, but I will ask anyway. LoL

To confirm, Hybrid uses .580 for the core, which inclused the radio file, GPS file, Wi-fi file, etc.? Isn't a radio file different for the 9930 than a 9900?

I just updated to .569 and have restored all data and apps. Would there be an issue with just installing the hybrid over my current phone config? Or am I asking for trouble?

Thanks, just don't want to do extra work if I don't have to.

Ok, you have answered your own question there, the radio file is different on the 9930 so no, its the radio file from the OS you use as the base, I have 569 as my base then the 580/BL Hybrid java over that.

The hybrid is best implemented over the OS before install, other wise you dont know what cods you will have on your phone.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Fraser, i saw your post ( yesterday? and your tweet) . Seems like a insane battery life!
As for my previous post it was a joke... People always ask about battery life few minutes or hours after a OS release...

Hybrid Noob here. I have installed tons of OS's just never a hybrid, so I could use some proper instructions please. I will be using the new .569 which is d/l'ed and installed, with both vendors removed. What next?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

This one is easy for you, If you know where the vendor.xml was hidden you are starting well.

Download the java mix for the hybrid on page 1, then extract the files over the 7.1.0.569 os java directory:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900M_v7.1.0.569_P5.1.0.415\java

From there you can do a full wipe of your phone, (after backup) and install using apploader. Or just try using Desktop Manager it might pick up

Ok, this I can do. Is the full wipe necessary? (just curious as I usually dont do a full wipe when installing straight OS's.)

  24. ifraser's Avatar
I added that in as you have .569 already, try it without the wipe,

if desktop manager doesnt flag an update available then yes, you might need the wipe.

From experience, a wipe does sometimes help the phone start from scratch also. ALthough I do then restore my app and data on top.
