During the outage last night my wife didnt know the BIS was down and was trying to contact my via BBM. She said she was having a hard time getting through (obviously) but I would get that "New BBM" icon on my screen but would go into my messages folder (where it should have been) and it wasnt there. I noticed them showing up in my SMS folder and in BBM itself but with a little phone icon next to it.

That's a 5.0 feature. It's because you have your friend's BBM Pin linked to her contact profile. It's ridiculously annoying.

Go into your BBM, highlight your friend's name, press the menu button and scroll down to Remove Link or Remove from Blackberry Contact (forget what it says verbatim since I already did this).

The flaw is for those of us who like to have our friend's BB PIN's in the contact information. Removing the link deletes their PIN (but keeps them on BBM, so no worries).

I'm all for the new threaded SMS, but I agree: I want my phone to distinguish between SMS and BBM chats, not link them because their contact information matches.

Im actually OK with it since it normally shows up in the messages folder when its a BBM chat. Just found it interesting that when BIS was down and I sent her a BBM chat, it converted it to a text
