Yeah, think this is why some poeple have had the issue where they can't Paste after copying. As I said in the earlier post about the Apple Symbol, not all icons will be recognized by all devices.

Mkay, besides trying this on an old BBM version, I'm at the difficulty here. Make sure the curser is on one side or the other of the icon you want, hit the shift bar (either), or press the menu key and choose select. Roll over the icon so it's highlighted, press the menu key, and select copy. Go to Options->Autotext, press the menu key, select new, choose a series of characters you want to type for the symbol and enter it in replace, scroll to with hit the menu key and select paste. Then it should look like this:

Then either hit the back button and select save, or the menu key and select save. Type the characters you inserted as replace, and hit the space bar, or any puctuation.

Do you see some of those additional unicode blocks as images? I would expect every device that has BBM57 would see the same. The paste completely baffles me. No matter what it looks like, if you truly copied something it darn sure should paste.

I tried a few, just show up as the small black blocks. As I understand it, if your device--BB, computer, etc--doesn't support the font, you won't see. There are literally unicode characters for everything--from a b c to the icons we are talking about. But as I said, certain ones do not work, and from what I have read, it's because of that fact. Just no support for whatever language it was written for. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong in this, no expert or anything

This is a Unicode dump of all of the symbols leading up to Happy, Angry, Sad on the list of discovered icons. Again...not quite sure what they are...but this is now all of the Unicode characters. So if there are any additional icons you want for your BBM...then they will be found throughout this thread.

anyone making any headway on editing the .cod file for bbm and adding all these new icons into the smiley list? thats probably the most efficient way to do this anyways. seems smarter than worrying about editing auto text.....

cod files aren't exactly txt files you just open up and manipulate, however if you accomplish this i will congratulate you, then call you an ***** for not having a job at RIM.

pick the ones you want and individually copy and paste them into autotext

I cant imagine anyone wanting to use every single one of the hidden emoticons that have been discovered......just try and find the ones you want. If you honestly want them all you will have to do the work to add them all individually.

This massive group of emoticons are from an iPhone/iPod touch. They're called 'emoji'. It's a Japenese made keyboard for emoticons that can be installed on iPhone. The reason that everyone is seeing black squares instead is because the formatting for the icons are in a file format that is readable only on iPhones and iPods. However, there is an app called 'emoji mailer' for the iPhone. This app reformats the little emoticons into .png files, so that they can be emailed and visible to most every device...otherwise they look like this:

Why would someone want to share their autotext .cod? In it you would have all the shortcuts that someone uses...for example I have zz that produces my name and title. Do you or anyone else need that? It is senseless to swap autotext .cods just because people are lazy. Enter them yourself or don't use them are really the only choices you have.

ok so that's your opinion. i'm just trying to be nice to the people that a. either don't have the time to input all the ones they want, or b. some of the people that don't understand how to do it. and as for the few custom ones like zz for your name, it'll be much quicker to delete those few than to add a new 300. if i ever get done inputing all of them i'll gladly upload my .cod file, but i know that i won't be finished for at least another week or 2, maybe someone else has already done it.

in order for you to see the icons, u must have the most updated bbm on your BB. if you dont have the most updated bbm you will only see black boxes and chinese... BB ninjas that was having a problem seeing the icons, try this and lemme know if it worked...

Worked for me, although some people I tested it on only saw the squares on their end.

Got this to work just fine by copy/ paste in BBM. Doesn't work anywhere else though. Anyone have an idea how to add this to Emoticons? Or to make a new Emoticon folder?
