ok. it has been over a week or so and this icon wont go away. no matter what i do. its driving me nuts. i went through all the message folders a battery pull, and nothing.

delete and reinstall bbm
You probably have a pending invite.

BB menu, click show all, you should then see it in your msg. folder.
