Hey all
So I got the 9900 and I gave my mom the 9800. I added her on bbm and it said pending for about 5 minutes, so I tried adding me to her bbm, and it still says pending. Now its pending on both of our phones.
She did not have a data plan, but I know att adds a data plan when you put the sim card in. I know internet works because I checked google and yahoo and they loaded fine.
If it because of the plan att automatically adds??

I guess you have BIS on the 9800?

You need to contact at&t and have a BlackBerry data plan on the account. They'll need the pin and IMEI, both found in Options->Status.

Really? Back when I had the bold 9000, I just swapped the sim with the 8520 (I think it was the 8520) and it worked fine without calling it in.

I think you're mixing apples and oranges. It's one thing to switch SIMs from one BlackBerry already on an account to another BlackBerry. Quite another to throw a SIM from another platform into a BlackBerry.
