I saw that post too. But nobody had answered it. When I saw it. I tries doing a search but I couldn't find it.
I just remember and kind of want to say you can with the Bold. But I'm not sure.

I would like to know this as well!
The purple text is when you send a broadcast message to all the people that you have open conversations with. That's the only time that the font is purple.
Colored text would be cool, but I'm looking to change my text font to magneto. Is there any way to downlaod new fonts onto my device, and then delete the ones that I'll never use?
id like to know if i could change the font colour in bbm ....
ya my friend keeps sending me messages on BBM that are different colors and said hed have to show me in person how to do it!!! i wish someone knew :(

Last time I checked there was apps in the app store that give you that freedom.
