I just swapped my Tour but before doing so, I did a backup with Desktop Manager so when I received my new Tour, I still have my BBM buddies on. My question is that since my PIN changed, will they still be able to message me? How does the BBM backup work? Or do I need to re-add them again since I have a new PIN?

If you restored the backup then all that's left is to go to BIS and change
the device PIN. After that the new PIN will push to the contacts and you
    won't have to re-add them.

Interesting. This never works for me. I always use the device change function on DM and still have to re-add all my bbm contacts.

But do you switch the device pin on BIS before or after?

Ok I think I know what's going on. From my experience using SIM cards to
switch I restore the phone I want to switch to, and then put the sim card
in the phone and that way the pin update pushes to the contacts. And then
of course after that I switch the device pin on BIS.

I think for CDMA you gotta do the device switch, then have the ESN switched
which is the equivalent of switching sim cards.

    That would make sense, thanks.

What I did just recently after killing my flip, was I restored my backup to my regular pearl, went to BIS site and changed the device pin and then installed BBM 5 on my pearl. From there once I logged in, my buddies already showed up but I went ahead and chose a new option that popped up on the BBM menu, something like Forward PIN change or something like that. I didn't have to re-add any contacts or anything like that.
