I just saved a few things from my old 9630 (e.g.: Messages, SMS AND BBM), and restored that backup on my new 9700.

I have every contact on BBM again, but now I wonder, how come I can send and receive messages from these people without having them confirmed my new Blackberry PIN?

Did you use the device change wizard in the DM software?

Are you using BBM 5.0? with the backup feature?

I had 5.0 on my Tour, but it seems that the version on the 9700 is 4.*.

It must have automatically updated thru BBM.... unless you moved your contacts to the new device.

I backed up BBM in the DM and restored BBM from the backup to my new phone.

when you did that I bet it updated your friends BBM to reflect your new pin.

When you transfer the contacts it auto registers their pins with your new pin. How? I don't know but that's just what I notice.
