I just received this phone from a family member. Curious to know if theres a possible OS upgrade current to whats running nowadays. Right now i believe i have V4.2 right now. or 3.0? Any feedback would be much appreciated thanks,
If you have OS 4.2, you can upgrade to one of the OS 4.5 versions. The latest is listed in a sticky at the top of the 8830 forum. OS 4.5 was the end of the road for the 8830. It doesn't have enough memory to run any higher OS version.
If I'm not mistaken the last OS update for the 8830 WE ws 4.5.0.175, and that was quite a while ago. My understanding is that RIM no longer offers support for this particular device. I don't think you even still buy one these BB's.
