Damn, there hasn't been a new hybrid from you... I'm still using this one on my Curve 3G but I've moved to Android now. Might pass my Curve 3G to my Mom, lol...

@wu-wei: Could you make a hybrid for new OS 6.0.0.756?
I will look into it. I believe one of the members of my testing team (who hasn't gone to BB10 yet) has something he put together as well.

I actually made a BB10 hybrid recently. We're all still figuring out how to do what we want to do.

Can't wait to try your hybrid when ready (would be perfect if it can save the settings like when using sachibar), your track record for the 9700 hybrids speak for themselves. Using both the Z10 - STL100-2 and the 9700 (Ascot and leebo [classy]).

Thank you for all your work and of your testers.

I'm having a hard time updating my 9650 to os6 so that I can run ascot. When I'm in app loader I select the new 6.0.0 707 but on the the page where you check the boxes for languages and apps I have 3 grayed out boxes from delfteo1096 from my old bold 9000 that I can't uncheck and app loader won't let me go any further? I deleted all the delfte0 files but those grayed out boxes are still there? Any suggestions?

    B@stard Hybrid: Ascot (20130222)

    Created by wu-wei

Those of you who regularly use my builds know the drill, but this one incorporates new files from the recently-released 7.1.0.865 OS.

I have streamlined this build considerably, and I left many files unchanged in favor of stability.

This build has been through thorough testing, and performs quite well relative to my previous builds.

My hybrids are tested on several devices, and I am confident that my builds work well on all OS6 devices.

    Recommended base OS versions:

    9300: 6.0.0.749
    9650: 6.0.0.707 (or 6.0.0.719)
    9700: 6.0.0.749
    9780: 6.0.0.749
    9800: 6.0.0.749

*For all 6.0.0.749 OS installers, Go to Austria -> Free Download Area -> Endgerte -> Rim Devices -> *DEVICE* -> Handheld Software 6.0 rel 3159

While these base OSes are recommended, Ascot will work over any 6.0.0.6xx or .7xx OS. If you have found another OS in those series that works best for you, certainly feel free to use that one instead.

Many members of my testing group and I have found better results using the 6.0.0.723 SFI file with a full java swap from 6.0.0.749 then placing Ascot over top of that.

Please note that some users have reported a "break-in" period with any hybrid. That is, the first day or so has poor battery life, but then things stabilize and we start sipping at the battery again. Battery life is critically important to me, so I am always mindful of those issues (and reluctant to leave my beloved 9700 for some shiny new OS7 device). I have not experienced this phenomenon myself, but I did want to mention that it is possible.

To install this hybrid, extract the contents of this zip file into the Java folder of the base OS you choose to use. On my system, these files were extracted into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v6.0.0.723_P6.6.0.248\Java.

When you extract the cod files into the folder listed above, you should be prompted to confirm that you want to replace existing files. If you are not prompted, then you are probably trying to extract to the wrong directory and the hybrid files will not be installed on your device.

If you do not know exactly what you're doing, then you should choose one of the following options:

    1. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THIS HYBRID.
    2. Read my guide on the CrackBerry forums, available here: Hybrid OS Installation Guide
    3. Read any How To posts by elite1 in practically any hybrid or leaked OS thread on CrackBerry.com
    4. Search the CrackBerry forums and read as much as you can find about how the BlackBerry OS loader process works.

This package does NOT include any third party applications at all. I build hybrid OSes. I do not promote any apps or force users to choose whether they want to install apps they may not want. If you are looking for a particular third party app, I probably have an opinion about it and may be able to tell you where to find it (I'm talking free or paid versions, NOT WAREZ).

Btw, I noticed that I can now browse the internet using wifi even though my data services are off. Is it normal? Some hybrids don't let me browse the internet even when I'm connected to a wifi when the data services are off. So I just turn off the mobile network (to save extra data charges), turn on the data services and connect to the wifi to start browsing. I really love this hybrid now.
I don't think this has to do with the hybrid. I noticed this as well when I upgraded my Bold 9780 from OS 6.0.0.666 to OS 6.0.0.749 (regular, non-hybrid version). However, often when I turned on data services to use data through my carrier network, once I turned it off again I would need to do a battery-pull to be able to browse over wifi again. Luckily this seems to have been fixed in the newest OS, 6.0.0.756!

Upgraded my BB9700 with 6.0.0.749 recommended base + Ascot remedies yesterday. Shrink os and i see alot of free memory, but current apps are getting bigger and bigger. Have to drop a some useful apps, or wait for BB9720 os 7.2 then.

    Hi all,

So I've decided to install this hybrid with base os .756 and so far so good.
However, I definitely recommend sticking with .723's sfi.
It seems like some carriers r becoming weiry & trying to throttle 3G connections x_x.
I'm guessing so seeing that they're trying to ultimately make away with monthly bis data plans, & also because they want u to upgrade to BB10.

Battery adr is still excellent and the escreen app works fine...that guy must be doing something wrong...make sure you're putting in the full app version, with the (3170) & typing the letters in lower case.
Here's the link to a escreen code generator that i use:
    http://www.zibri.org/2009/08/hidden-...-best.html?m=1

But otherwise, i haven't noticed any difference from this os .756 to .749.
But hey, newer's usually better right (except for the .sfi part).

maybe u should remove all BDM and OS, then delete "Research In Motion" folder in "C:\Program Files\Common Files" (win 32 bit). Restart your computer, reinstall BDM and OS (just one OS, u can download the lastest os from Vodafone "http://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do"
    install new OS without battery

your phone is 9780 or 9870??
